A parachute harness includes a seat strap and leg straps extending longitudinally along the legs and under the insteps of the wearer, the seat strap and leg loops acting as the main loadbearing elements of the harness. The harness comprises a strap 1, Fig. 1, forming the seat strap and extending up the front of the body and through the rings 6, 7 as the main lift webs. The straps 2, 3 are attached to the rear bars of rings 6, 7 respectively, cross-diagonally over the wearer's back and pass down the outside of the legs, under the insteps, and up the inside of the legs, the ends being attached to the seat strap 1. Straps 4, 5 are secured to the front bars of the rings 6, 7 respectively, are releasably connected together by clasp 8, pass round the back of the body and return to the front at opposite sides where they are adjustably connected together by the buckle 9. In an alternative form, Fig. 4, the straps 2<1>, 31 pass from buckles 6, 7 diagonally across the wearer's back and are secured to the seat strap 1 and to a subsidiary seat strap 1<1>. The leg loops 12, 13 are connected at their outer ends to the uprising side portions of straps 1, 1<1> and at their inner ends to the central portion of the seat straps 1, 1<1>. Independent straps 14, 15 encircle the wearer's chest and waist respectively. The leg loops may be held in position by loops 10, 11, Fig. 1, encircling the legs, or by front cross-straps 16, Fig. 4. The harness may be incorporated in a garment, the straps being sewn to the garment or located in tunnels or slots therein.
