Abstract
617,574. Parachute harness. BRITISH PARACHUTE CO., Ltd., and WYLLIE, S. S. Oct. 7, 1946, No. 29919. [Class 141] A parachute harness of the kind having main lift webs or suspension straps 1 situated in front of the wearer and forming a continuous seat loop, and held on the body by harness which includes shoulder straps 3 and leg straps 4 located in position by a common quick release box 5, is characterised in that each shoulder strap has a running sliding connection with the release box through a slot in one of the upper lugs 7 and each leg strap has a running sliding connection as at 9 with the associated main lift web 1. The leg straps 4, secured to the lower lugs 7a of the release box 5 are formed integrally but may have a running connection through buckles 10 with the shoulder straps 3 which cross over at the back. These latter have sliding connection with the main lift web by means of buckles 6, and after passing through the lugs 7, the free end of each is stitched to the corresponding main lift web at 8. The harness includes an adjustable leg loop 11 to pass between the thighs and this carries a loop 14 having secured thereto the quick release box 5. A pocket 16 in one of the main lift webs houses a parachute release ring 15 secured to a cable 17 passing downwardly along a tunnel to a seat type pack.
