Abstract

1,039,267. Safety harness. IRVING AIR CHUTE OF GREAT BRITAIN Ltd. June 10, 1965 [June 30, 1964], No. 27007/64. Heading A3V. A safety harness for workmen, which may be incorporated in a garment, comprises a chest panel 1, shoulder straps 3 and hip straps 8 connected to the rear suspension means 2, Fig. 4, not shown, and leg straps 7 passing round the thighs and being connected by buckles 9 to straps 8. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3 the straps 3 may be integral with each other, as may the straps 8 and optional side straps 5, the straps 3 passing through a ring 4 and the straps 5 and 8 through a ring 6, the ring being suspended from a ring 17 by means of a strap 16. All straps at the junction are sheathed. The harness may be disposed between the lining 21 and outer layer 23 of a jacket 20, Fig. 6, the strap 16 passing through a tapered extension 25 of the outer layer which when the harness is not in use is folded down and releasably secured to the back of the jacket. The leg straps 7 are threaded through a tail flap 27 of the jacket lining. The lining is stitched to the jacket around the neck opening 24 and detachably secured to it above and below armholes 22 by filamentary hook and loop fastener strips.
