Abstract

1,113,030. Body harness. G.Q. PARACHUTE CO. Ltd. 20 Jan., 1967 [21 March, 1966], No. 12226/66. Heading A3V. A harness for personal wear e.g. by parachutists and industrial workers, consists of a main sling 11 on which the user can sit, as on a swing, a rear cross brace 12, 13, leg straps 14, 15, a chest strap 24, 25 and straps 50 for connecting the harness to supporting means, such as the rigging lines of a parachute, the harness being adjustable so that it can be fitted to people of differing sizes. The main sling 11 passes around bars of support members 20, 21 on the rear cross brace 13 and to which the support straps 50 are secured, the length of the main sling 11 being adjusted by buckles 30, 31 covered by sleeves 32, 33. The rear cross brace is formed in two parts 13, 14. The part 13 is H-shaped and is formed by straps 34, 35, 36, the straps 34, 36 having the support members 20, 21 at their upper ends and buckles 37, 38 at their lower ends. The second part 12 consists of a strap which passes from buckle 37, through loops 39, 40 on the main sling 11 and back to buckle 38, the strap 12 being adjusted by buckles 37, 38. The chest strap 24, 25 is connected to the main sling 11 by loops which pass around the sling 11, is adjusted by buckle 47 and can be released by a snap hook 26. The leg straps 14, 15 are fixed to the mid point of the main sling 11, are adjusted by buckles 16, 17 and are connected to the side straps of the main sling 11 by snap hooks 18, 19. A reserve parachute can be attached to links 28, 29 on the main sling 11.
