Abstract

597,485. Brassieres. WITKOWER, M. Aug. 21, 1945, No. 21371. [Class 141] A brassiere of the kind having breast pockets terminating in bands adapted to be fastened at the back of the wearer, has breast supporting straps 23 and means such as hooks 9' and eyes 8' for detachably joining the front panels 7 of the pockets. The lower ends of the supporting straps 23 are attached to the medial lines of the lower portion of the breast pockets and after crossing each other the straps are connected to the upper portions of the breast pockets, each by means of an adjustable member 20<1> attached to one end of a fabric strip 20 which is secured at 21 to the end of the opposite shoulder strap 17 and at the other end to the upper portion of the respective breast pocket. Each breast pocket has attached to its upper edge a fabric loop 15 adapted to engage a hook 16 on the front end of the shoulder strap. By unfastening hooks 9' and eyes 8' and unhooking loops 15, the breasts of the wearer can be exposed for nursing, the position of the other parts of the brassiere being undisturbed.
