Abstract

1,218,979. Brassieres. PENNYRICH INTERNATIONAL Inc. 26 June, 1968, No. 30417/68. Heading A3V. A brassiere comprises a chest encircling band 18, a first vertical fabric strip 19 for positioning between the breasts of the wearer, second and third vertical fabric strips 38, 39 for positioning to the rear of each breast, and chest engaging strips 15, 25 with overlying bust supporting bands 10, 20 secured to the vertical strips 19, 38, 39, the outer end 11, 21 of each supporting band 10, 20 having an upper diagonal edge and being secured to the respective vertical strip 38, 39 along a vertical line 41, 42. Band 18 is preferably of elastic and is stitched to back panels 33, 34 and to elastic gussets 28, 29 carrying hooks and eyelets 30, 32. Chest engaging strips 15, 25 are of elastic and are so stitched along their upper surfaces to the overlying bust supporting bands 10, 20 of heavier material that the bands are curved. These bands are stitched at 13, 23 to the vertical strip 19. Bust cups 53, 54 are stitched to the bust supporting bands 10, 20 and to the vertical strips 38, 39 but are free at their upper edges so as to be releasably secured by loops 56 to shoulder strap buckles 47.
