Abstract

1,043,365. Rolling. DAVY & UNITED ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Sept. 23, 1963 [Oct. 8, 1962; Jan. 8, 1963], Nos. 26215/62 and 838/63. Heading B3M. A rolling mill includes a frame supporting a pair of rolls for pivotal movement through 90 degrees between vertical and horizontal positions, the axis of rotation of the frame being displaced from the pass line of the rolls and being formed by pivots movable along a track in a plane normal to the pass line. The frame is provided with supporting rollers 134 which run on horizontal rails, and pivoted blocks 130 which move in vertical guides, the rollers and blocks guiding the frame as it is rotated. Bolts 139 are used to clamp the frame in either a vertical or horizontal position. The roll housings 113 and 114 are slidably arranged on vertical guides of the frame 115, a motor driven screw 119 providing for their vertical adjustment. The housings are provided with wheels 147 which run on rails 148 pivotally attached at 150 to the frame. The roll drive is from a motor 125 by way of gearing and universal shafts 120 and 121.
