Abstract

In a ring-spinning &c. frame, where at each spindle the formation of the balloon is prevented by entraining the yarn around the top of the spindle, the thread tension is kept constant by gradually moving the lappet towards the spindle-head during the formation of the package. The incoming yarn is entrained on the top of each spindle and the lappet rail can be raised manually or by the following arrangements. In Fig. 2, (not shown), a cam 12 with a follower attached to the rail is secured to the shaft 10 of the mechanism by which building-movement is imparted to the ring-rail 51. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the ring-rail is provided with a roll 20 bearing on a rod 19 connected to one of the rolls 18 from which the thread-rail is suspended.
