Abstract

1,035,437. Exhaust silencers. DELANEY GALLAY Ltd. June 22, 1965 [July 2, 1964], No. 27356/64. Heading F1B. An exhaust silencer comprises two tube assemblies each comprising coaxial tubes 13, 14, with annular spaces 15, the inner tubes 13 opening into chamber 19 formed in the outer tubes 14, which outer tube has perforations 29, 30, opening into galleries 24 formed alongside the tube assemblies by inner casing members 23. Exhaust gases entering at 11 flow partly through pipe 13 into chamber 19 and through orifice 30 into galleries 24 and partly through perforations 28 into chamber 15 and then through orifices 29 into galleries 24. From the galleries 24 the gases flow through orifices 29, 30, in the second tube assembly into pipe 13 to escape at 12. Heat insulating material 27 is provided between the silencing assembly and an outer casing 25.
