Abstract

102,946. Clay, W. L. Dec. 30, 1915, [Convention date]. Projectiles.-Consists in making bullets with a substantially pointed steel core 22, a mass of lead or lead alloy 19 extending beyond the steel core, and a cupro-nickel or like jacket 15, which is open at the front end to leave the nose of the lead uncovered. The dimensions of the bullet in inches are : a = 0.3081 to 0.3085, b = 0.268, c = 0.218, d = 1.19 to 1.22, e = 0.725, and f 0.295 to 0.325. The weight of the steel core is 48 grains, when the total weight of the bullet is 150 grains. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) describes also a bullet in which the jacket is closed in front and open at the base, which is then covered by a steel disk. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
