Abstract

329,967. Strang, H. B., and Green, H. Feb. 27, 1929. Projectiles.- An armour-piercing projectile, designed to prevent the crushing or indentation of the body when passing obliquely through armour plating, has its centre portion provided with grooves C tapered in depth, as shown. The tapered portion extends from the full-diameter portion A<1> to a point C<2> situated in front of the fulldiameter portion A<3>. The grooves are separated by ribs C' of full diameter and equal in width to the width of the grooves, and may run along the projectile body either spirally or longitudinally.
