Abstract

An aluminium bronze alloy, particularly for heavy section castings such as marine propellers, has the following composition: Mn 10.0-15.0 per cent, Al 6.5-9.0 per cent, Fe 2.0-4.0 per cent, Ni 1.5-6.0 per cent. Cu, at least 70.0 per cent, the balance except for impurities and incidental constituents added in accordance with common practice in the production of aluminium bronzes. Among such additional elements are Pb up to 2.0 per cent Si up to 0.2 per cent, P up to 0.02 per cent and Sn up to 2.0 per cent.
