Abstract

A corrosion-resistant alloy consists of: .Al.8-10.5.per cent .Fe.4.5-10.per cent .Zn.0.5-2.5.per cent .Mn.0.5-8.per cent .Ni.0-3.per cent .Cu.(with impurities). the balance, the Fe content being at least three times the Ni content when Ni is present. The alloy is stated to be particularly suitable for marine engineering components, e.g. marine propellers and propeller accessories, pump casings and rotors, propeller brackets and rudder shafts. According to the Provisional Specification, Ni is an essential constituent of the alloy and is present from 1.5-5 per cent.
