Abstract
1,013,053. Loudspeakers. REPRODUCERS & AMPLIFIERS Ltd. Feb. 19, 1964 [March 11, 1963], No. 9552/63. Heading H4J. A loudspeaker comprises a pot 1 having a skirt 2, the inner and outer edges of which are provided with recesses 11, 12 which respectively define a shoulder for location of a front plate 6 and a shoulder for location of the pot 1 within a hole in a chassis 13. When assembled, the front faces 15, 16 adjacent the skirt 2 are substantially level with one another and the end of the skirt 2 protrudes slightly beyond these faces. After the parts 6, 13 have been assembled in their recesses 11, 12 they are secured together by deforming the protruding end of the skirt 2 both inwardly and outwardly by a peening operation. The peening is preferably performed by a tool which strikes the skirt 2 simultaneously at a number of spaced points. The pot 1 is of magnetically soft material. A permanent magnet slug 3 carries a pole piece 5 which co-operates with the plate 6 to form an annular gap for a speech coil 7.
