A roll capacitor a (Fig. 1) with paper or plastic foil dielectric and connecting leads b is contained in a metal beaker c and is completely encased with a setting moulding resin, e.g. ethoxylene resin by placing it in a mould d and vacuum impregnating to fill the intervening space round the capacitor and surrounding the leads with a plug e. The capacitor may be surrounded by a spiral turn of metal foil engaging the final turns of the capacitor foil (Fig. 2, not shown), or a spirally coiled metal sleeve (Fig. 5, not shown); alternatively, with a plastic shell (Fig. 3, not shown) which may be an extension of the dielectric strip, or by a plastic tube (Fig. 4, not shown). The leads may emerge from opposite ends through openings sealed with the resin.
