Abstract

716,917. Electrical capacitors. BRITISH DIELECTRIC RESEARCH, Ltd. May 11, 1953, [May 12, 1952.] No. 11977/52. Class 37. In a condenser comprising overlapping spiral metal windings separated by a dielectric, wound on a hollow insulating core, the ends of the core are sealed by short plugs of insulating material to prevent ingress of metal when the ends are sprayed to make the respective terminal connections. The plugs are preferably of molten or soft plastic material dropped or injected into the ends, the material being so chosen that it is not hot enough to damage the dielectric on injection e.g. plugs 8 of polythene wax are used if the dielectric is of polystyrene foil. The connections in the form of a plate or flat coil 5 on the end of a wire 4, are attached to the metal terminals with solder 3.
