Abstract

1,005,415. Folding chairs. G. JENKINS. July 3, 1964 [July 25, 1963], No. 29570/63. Heading A4J. A folding chair has a seat 19 carried on a tiltable seat frame 12, 13, 14 which is pivotally supported on horizontal axes C, E on spaced side frames 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8. Each side frame has an arm rest 2 pivoted to a rear leg 1 and leg locking strut 5, and a front leg 3 pivoted to a leg supporting strut 4. The leg 3 carries a cross-piece 7 against which the strut 5 abuts to hold the frame in the erected position. The base members 13 of the seat frame are extended and joined at their ends J by a cross-piece 15 acting as a footrest. Backward pressure on the back members 12 causes the seat frame to move to a reclining position shown in broken dotted lines. The seat 19 may be canvas or formed of articulated cross-pieces.
