Abstract

1,004,848. Rolling. MORGAN CONSTRUCTION CO. Oct. 23, 1962, No. 42866/64. Divided out of 1,004,847. Heading B3M. A vertical rolling-mill as described in Specification 1,004,847 comprises a housing 12 resting on a base 13 which in turn rests upon a foundation 11, upstanding posts 52 and 53 which locate the housing in position whilst permitting its removal, chocks 35, 36, 39 and 41 for slidably supporting vertical rolls 15 and 16 during roll changing, and chocks 97 and 97a for supporting drive couplings for the rolls. Each chock 97 or 97a, Fig. 9, is formed with projections 98 and 99 for allowing the chock to slide along guide bars 44 and 45 which support the roll chocks. As the roll chocks are adjusted by screws 86 and 88, Fig. 7, for pass adjustment, the bars 44 and 45 slide within the housing 12. Jacks driven from motors 119 are used to raise the housing 12.
