A cold pilger mill stand has two U-shaped frames 1 which are open at the top to facilitate the removal of roll assemblies 6. A crossmember 2 normally closes the top of each frame and is located in slots which restrain the member against vertical movement. Pivoted arms 3 co-operate with grooves in the members to prevent lateral sliding of the members from their slots.
