Abstract

845,160. Rolling. MOELLER & NEUMANN G.m.b.H. July 11, 1958 [July 11, 1957], No. 22328/58. Class 83 (4). In order to permit the common insertion and removal of roll and housing assemblies into and from mill frames or stands, the housings 1 and 2 of the rolls 4 and 5 are connected by adjustable tension resisting members 6 and urged apart by resilient means 3 such that when the pass adjusting screw 8 is released, the separating force takes up the play at 9 and the complete unit can be moved out of the stand 7 on rails 10 and carried away by a crane attached to the eyelets 11 on the tension members. The upper and lower housings are constructed so that one is guided within the other in the vertical direction. The tension members are guided in slots in the lower roll housing so that the housings may be separated laterally when necessary.
