Abstract

1,029,500. Rolling. MESTA MACHINE Co. April 27, 1964, No. 17431/64. Heading B3M. A four-high rolling mill stand comprises a pair of housings 10 for supporting the mill rolls, the working roll chocks 22 and 25 being supported by guides 12 which extend inwardly into the housing windows 11. The chocks 22 and 25 and the lower back-up roll chock 15 are held in position by power-operated clamps 28, while the upper chock 13 is held by a clamp 19. Fingers 20 and 23 on the chock 22 co-operate with the chocks 25 and 15 to axially restrain all three chocks relative to each other while allowing relative vertical movement between them. For roll changing, a sled 17 (Fig. 1, not shown), situated beneath the chock 15 and attached to a rack 30, is driven by a pinion 31 transversely of the stand to remove the working rolls and the lower back-up roll as a unit.
