Abstract

The roof has a hollow section metal beam (a) running transversely which has been factory fitted with two series of gusset plates (d) spaced along it at regular intervals. The main roof beams (b) are T-shaped and the thicker part is bolted to the gusset plates. This leaves a series of spaces between the beams which are filled with sheets (c) of insulating material. The sheets rest on the ledges provided by the T-section, and then purlins and tiles can be added in the normal way or a solar collector can be fitted.
