Abstract

The prefabricated wooden farm building, has a habitable space formed at the bottom by two arch piers, supporting the roof. To support a floor, the cross-brace is formed by timbers and a joist extending across the habitable space, rigidly secured to each other and spaced apart. The opposite ends of the joist are fixed to the piers. The cross-brace and joist can together form a lattice-work girder, partly of metal and partly of wood, or alternatively a composite beam with a solid core.
