Abstract

The silencer is partic. intended for piston engines for aircraft and is provided with an injector to mix exhaust gas and fresh air. The injector is pref. provided with an annular orifice between two coaxial tubes of unequal dia., through which orifice air is drawn in during operation. Two or more exhaust lines with injectors may be connected with a common diffusor-resonator assembly. The resonance chamber is pref. arranged to have a low eigen frequency and to eliminate most of the high frequency noise. The resonance chamber may be tubular, and the diffusor may be an outward tapering tube directly connected with a constant dia. resonator tube. The taper angle of the diffusor may be less than 10 deg., pref. less than 5 deg.
