Abstract

1,175,793. Spray burners. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. 9 May, 1968, No. 22050/68. Addition to 1,114,026. Heading F4T. To permit a reduction in the radial dimensions of the fuel injector of Specification 1,114,026 without reduction in capacity the central body 20 has, in a modification, mounted within it a tubular conduit 24 to form an annular fuel passage 40 at whose downstream end is formed an annular swirl member 26 provided with helical passages which cause fuel from passage 40 to flow on to the inner surface 23 of the body 20 with a substantial degree of swirl where it mixes with compressed air. The resulting mixture is deflected by a flared deflector 32 which forms with the downstream ends 43 of the body 20 a passage 44 whose minimum cross-section is in the plane of the downstream edge 44 of the body 20.
