Abstract
1391442 Gas turbine engine combustion equipment JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 29 June 1972 [2 July 1971] 31075/71 Heading F1L A flame tube for combustion equipment of a gas turbine engine comprises a tube element 10 having a frusto-conical baffle element 13 supported at the upstream end thereof by means of tubular support members 16, 17 so as to define an annular gap 15 therebetween. The flame tube is formed with a series of elongated openings 18 disposed in a ring, the total area of the openings 18 being equal to or greater than the remaining area of the tube element in that ring. A further series of openings 19 is formed in the flame tube downstream of the openings 18. A swirl element comprising a circular plate 22 and a series of swirl vanes 24 is disposed upstream of the baffle 13, the plate 22 having a central opening in which a fuel sprayer 25 is mounted, the swirling air entering the flame tube through annular passage 26. The baffle 13 is formed with rows of openings 20. An igniter 27 projects through the baffle.
