Abstract
1394223 Gas turbine engine combustion equipment JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 18 July 1972 [10 Aug 1971] 37447/71 Heading F1L Combustion equipment for a gas turbine engine comprises a flame tube 10 having an inlet end 11 and an outlet end 12, a baffle member 13 being disposed at the upstream end, air entering the flame tube between the outer periphery of the baffle and the flame tube, also through a central opening 14 in the baffle; further air enters the flame tube through openings 21 and 22. A ring member 13 is secured to the upstream surface of the baffle and a series of swirl vanes 15 is secured thereto each vane comprising a tangentially-directed portion 15a, a radial portion 15b, a circumferential portion 15c secured to the flame tube 10 and a radial portion 15d which is secured to the radial portion 15b of the adjacent vane. A circular plate 16 is secured to the vanes 15 at their upstream edges and carries a bush 17 in which a fuel injector 18 is mounted; the bush is secured to an end-plate 20 by means of a screwed nut 19. Air entering the flame tube through the central opening 14 is caused to swirl by means of the vanes 15.
