Abstract
1516177 Combustion chambers for gas turbine engines MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KK 27 Aug 1975 [27 Aug 1974 (2) 3 Dec 1974] 35327/75 Heading F1L [Also in Division F4] A combustion chamber for example for a gas turbine engine, comprises an outer cylindrical member 1 and an inner cylindrical member 2 arranged so as to provide an annular primary combustion zone 3, to which fuel is supplied through injectors 4 disposed at the upstream end of the combustion space, each injector having a combustion air swirler 5 disposed therearound. Openings 7 are formed in the outer member 1 for the inflow of secondary air only in a plane which defines the downstream end of the primary combustion zone. Air is also supplied through the inner member 2 discharging into the secondary combustion zone through swirl vanes 6. Water or steam is supplied through sprayer 11 into the air discharging through the swirl vanes 6. Further air is supplied through openings 9 into a downstream region of the combustion chamber for dilution or cooling. The openings 7 and 9 have short tubular members 8 and 10 mounted therein. In Fig. 10 shroud members 106 are provided around the swirl vanes 105 and define a further inlet through which air enters without swirl.
