Abstract

The missile has a jet propulsion engine (2) and a rocket engine (3) arranged coaxially within the jet engine. The jet engine has an air intake (2b), an annular combustion chamber (5) and a discharge (2c). The rocket engine is on the centreline of the jet engine and has a discharge tube (3c) terminating in a opening (St) coaxially inside the jet discharge (2c). This opening is axially upstream inside the jet discharge tube by an amount not more than twice the diameter of the jet discharge. The jet discharge tube is accelerated to a velocity not exceeding that of sound. The arrangement prevents mutual interference of the two exhausts at all operating conditions.
