Abstract

A method of joining or terminating semi-rigid tubes of rubber or plastic, and consisting of a bush which fits inside the tube, wraps back over the end of the tube and ends in an edge forming a re-entrant cone around the outside of the tube wall. A resilient sealing ring, trapezoidal in section, is forced into this re-entrant edge by pressure from the inside surface of a fixing nut which screws on to the terminating union. In the case of a joint, the bush extends inside both pipes and forms two re-entrant sealing conical sealing faces, one for each pipe and the fixing nuts screw into each other.
