Abstract

Una composición en polvo poroso útil como catalizador con un revestimiento de aluminosilicato amorfo y una superficie específica de 30 a 750m2/g, una densidad aparente de 0,5 g/cc o más con poros de tamaño sustancialmente uniforme comprendido entre 20 y 250 angstron con diámetro de poro de 20 a 45 angstron de una uniformidad tal que al menos el 90% del volumen poroso está constituido por poros de 0,60 a 1,4D, y diámetros de poro de 45 a 250 angstron, de una uniformidad tal que al menos el 80% del volumen poroso está constituido por poros de 0,6D a 1,4D, donde D es el diámetro medio del poro, se prepara por un procedimiento que consiste en: (1) preparar un sol de partículas coloidales discretas de tamaño uniforme comprendido entre 2 y 87 manómetros, (2) intercambiar los iones sodio o potasio del sol de (1) por iones amonio, (3) opcionalmente separar parcial o totalmente los iones amonio o intercambiar parcial o totalmente los iones amonio por uno o más iones metálicos aquí descritos, seleccionados entre los Grupos I a VIII del Sistema Periódicos y (4) separar el agua del/sol sin gelificarlo de manera que las partículas queden uniformemente compactadas en agregados con poros de tamaño sustancialmente uniforme y revestir dichos polvo con una capa superficial de 0 a 15% en peso de un metal u óxido metálico.
