Abstract

PURPOSE: Integrated structure catalytic carrier is coated with a liquid consisting of active alumina and boehmite-containing colloidal alumina, and fired, thereby providing an active and durable catalytic carrire for cleaning internal engine waste gas.
CONSTITUTION: Intergrated structure catalytic carrier is coated with on its external and internal flowing surface with a liquid containing active alumina essentially consisting of alumina and colloidal alumina as binder in a ratio of 1 : 1.5 to 100 part, and dried at a relatively low temperature, preferably at 50 to 150°C, then fired at 150 to 850°C, preferably at 300 to 700°C, for 0.5 to 20 hours, preferably 1.5 to 5 hours, thereby forming coating layer of high specific surface (40m2/g). The active alumina used contains alumina more than 60%, preferably more than 80%, the most preferably 100%. The colloidal alumina used contains boehmite 1 to 20%, preferably 3 to 15%, based on the value converted as unhydrous alumina.
