Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst of long life without peeling off of a coating layer by employing a carrier and an active alumina slurry liquid different in the temperature when a solid catalyst carrier is coated with an active alumina layer.
CONSTITUTION: When a sold catalyst carrier is used to clean exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine, the carrier is emmersed into a low temperature active alumina slurry liquid after heated upto a certain temperature or the carrier with a low temperature is immersed into a heated active alumina slurry liquid whereby a coating is performed with the carrier and the active alumina slurry different in the temperature. Consequently, fine pores in the carrier become vacuum causing the active alumina coating layer to penetrate thereinto thereby producing a durable catalyst hard to peel off.
