Abstract

El controlador 10 es un cuadrado de 5 cm de lado en una realización. Es posible también tener un controlador cuadrado de 2,5 a 7,6 cm, inclusive, y conformar el controlador con unas formas distintas a cuadradas.
Las Figuras 3-7 muestran un ejemplo alternativo de un controlador de chinches de cama. El controlador de chinches de cama 60 de las Figuras 3-7 incluye dos partes principales: una base 62 y una cubierta 66. La cubierta 66 puede retirarse de la base 62 apretando la cubierta para desacoplar la cubierta de las mitades 68, 70, mostradas en la Figura 4. Una información más detallada acerca de la estructura del controlador de chinches de cama 60 está disponible en la Solicitud de Patente de Estados Unidos Número de Serie 10/697.705, titulada INSECT SUPPRESSION STATION, presentada el 29 de octubre de 2003. La solicitud de patente describe la estructura de las Figuras 3-7 y cómo esa estructura puede usarse como un puesto de supresión de insectos. La estructura está también bien adaptada para su uso como un controlador de chinches de cama debido a que proporciona la capacidad de retener láminas adherentes en rebajes dentro de la trampa. Puede recibirse una lámina adherente en un rebaje inferior dentro de la base 62 o en un rebaje superior dentro de la cubierta 66.
Otros detalles de la estructura del controlador 60 se describen en la Solicitud de Patente con n.º de Serie 10/697.705 y por lo tanto no se describirán adicionalmente. Sin embargo, ciertas características de la trampa 60 tal como se representa en la figura pueden modificarse para conseguir una realización de ejemplo ligeramente diferente que esté bien adaptada también como controlador de chinches de cama. Por ejemplo, la cubierta 66 mostrada en las Figuras 3-4 puede ser una cubierta plana en lugar de una cubierta en cúpula. Una cubierta con forma de cúpula es útil para impedir que el agua u otros líquidos alcancen los dispositivos de supresión de insectos dentro del controlador, por ejemplo cuando el dispositivo se usa en cocinas u otras áreas que pueden limpiarse con el uso de mangueras. Sin embargo, dado que el controlador de chinches de cama es probable que se use en emplazamientos de dormitorio y es improbable encontrar grandes cantidades de agua, es preferible la cubierta plana. La cubierta plana permite que el dispositivo tenga un perfil más bajo y sea menos evidente para los clientes.
La base 62 del controlador de chinches de cama 60 puede estar fabricada de un material plástico bastante rígido, tal como plástico de alto impacto o plástico ABS, mientras que la tapa 66 está fabricada de un plástico que es más flexible que el de la base 62. En una realización, los materiales de base y tapa son resistentes al agua y/o resistentes al impacto. Algunos ejemplos de materiales de base y tapa son plásticos termoformados tales como polipropileno de alto impacto (HIPP), y acrilonitrilo butadieno estireno (ABS). Otros materiales posibles incluyen policlorotrifluoroetileno (PCTFE), cloruro de polivinilideno (PVDC) o polietileno de alta densidad (HDPE). Además, el puesto puede formarse con materiales no plásticos tales como cartón, papel cartón encerado, metal galvanizado, aluminio y madera.
Un dispositivo de retención que puede usarse en las áreas de recepción 72, 74 es una lámina adherente 154 que incluye el adhesivo 156 sobre una superficie tal como se muestra en la Figura 9. Cualquier insecto capturado sobre la lámina adherente 156 dentro de una de las áreas de recepción 72, 74 del puesto 60 no será visible debido que está contenido dentro del puesto 60. Esta configuración proporciona una evidencia visual de cualquier presencia del insecto, pero reduce la probabilidad de que un cliente u observador casual de la trampa sea capaz de ver cualquier insecto capturado.
En la Figura 8 se muestra un ejemplo de un dispositivo que puede usarse tanto en la primera área de recepción 72 como en la segunda área de recepción 74 o en ambas áreas de recepción. La almohadilla 150 puede ser un dispositivo para la atracción, control, captura o cebo del insecto, o puede llevar a cabo cualquier combinación de estas funciones.
