Abstract

Esta invención se refiere a un oligómero aromático representado por la siguiente fórmula (1) (A-F)n-A donde A es una unidad que comprende (a) 30-90% en peso de un compuesto aromático bicíclico o tricíclico y (b) 10-70% en peso de un compuesto fenol, F es metileno o una mezcla de metileno y -CH2OCH2- y n es un número de 1 a 100. El oligómero aromático se obtiene por reacción de un compuesto aromático policíclico tal como naftaleno y benzotiofeno, un fenol y compuesto de formaldehido en presencia de un catalizadoar ácido. El oligómero aromático es inodoro y es útil para varias aplicaciones. En particular, cuando se incorpora a caucho o resina, el orligómero aromático puede actuar en forma excelente como substancia adherente en un amplio intervalo de temperaturas o actuar en forma excelente como agente de amortiguamiento de vibraciones.
