Abstract

La invención se refiere a un tratamiento eficaz de óxido de propileno que resulta de un proceso de epoxidación que utiliza metanol como solvente. Este tratamiento permite eliminar el acetaldehído por destilación fraccionada del producto de reacción bruto de epoxidación. En este tipo de destilación se utiliza el solvente metanol para reducir la volatilidad relativa de las impurezas acetaldehído, lo que permite obtener una fracción de residuo que contiene sensiblemente cualquier acetaldehído. Se retira el óxido de propileno purificado que presenta una concentración de acetaldehído en forma de un flujo de cabeza. Este procedimiento permite también separar eficazmente el agua del óxido de propileno.
