Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for pretreating a textile to be printed, in which the textile is wetted, at least in a printing area, in which at least one printing ink is applied, with a treatment composition, by which threads of the textile are sealed, according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the invention relates to a device for pretreating at least one textile to be printed according to claim 7.
- the invention also relates to a treatment composition according to claim 12.
- one of the challenges is to produce consistent, crisp print images on the widely varying surfaces of textile media made from a variety of different materials and techniques.
- a colored primer is applied to the intended printed image areally. This can be perceived as aesthetically disadvantageous depending on the intended use and print motif.
- ink provided on a primer paint layer may have adverse abrasion and wash resistance properties because of adhesion of paint to fabrics differs fundamentally from the binding force between individual layers of paint.
- the print image is applied a short time after the primer, with the primer and print image are then fixed together. Once a primer has reached a certain hardness or degree of dryness, the ability of the print image to adhere to the primer may decrease in a sustained manner. Therefore, in such a process, a rapid further processing of the primed textile to the printed end product may be required.
- the invention has for its object to provide a method and apparatus for pretreating a textile to be printed, which allows a reliable adhesion of the ink to the textile regardless of the surface texture of the textile, pretreatment and printing of the textile can be carried out independently of each other in time.
- the inventive method is characterized in that the treatment composition is first dried on the textile and that the dried treatment composition is activated prior to printing, wherein at least the pressure range provided with the treatment fluid is pressed under heat.
- the device according to the invention for pretreating at least one textile to be printed on is characterized in that it has a wetting device which is designed to wet the at least one textile on a printing side in a printing area with a treatment composition in that it has a drying device which is formed is to reduce at least one solvent content in the treatment composition, that it has a heating device which is adapted to the treatment composition at least in the pressure range on the at least one textile wherein the treatment composition is activatable on the at least one textile for sealing the surface of the textile, and that it comprises a pressing device which is adapted to press the at least one textile at least in the printing area, wherein at least in the printing area the surface of the textile smoothed.
- the treatment composition according to the invention is characterized in that at least one thermoplastic component is provided, which is dissolved in a solvent.
- a basic idea of the invention is to provide a pretreatment process for textile printing in which a treatment composition which is activatable under the action of heat and pressure is applied to the textile to be printed.
- the activation of the treatment composition at any time before printing, in particular only directly, so immediately before it, be performed.
- Pretreatment and printing can be carried out independently of each other in terms of time.
- a further basic idea of the invention is to provide a device for pretreating at least one textile to be printed, which is designed to wet the textile to be printed with a treatment composition and to prepare it for activation by reducing a proportion of volatiles, at least partially pretreated textile can be stored up to a printing.
- the device is further configured to activate the treatment composition under the action of heat and / or pressure before printing, wherein a uniform textile surface is provided for printing.
- Another basic idea of the invention is to provide at least one substance with which a textile surface can be treated in dissolved form, the solvent being removable, as a result of which the substance is released again, for example as a solid.
- the at least one substance in a dissolved state have a lower viscosity than when the solvent is at least partially removed.
- a preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention is that the threads of the textile have a multiphile structure which is sealed by means of the activated treatment composition in the printing area, avoiding penetration of printing ink into the multiphile structure.
- a multiple fiber may be characterized in particular by a proportion of uneven surface with irregularly protruding in the space thread parts and a twisted structure.
- the position of an ink droplet on a printed textile and its surface and contour can be adversely affected by physical influences of the textile, such as electrostatic or capillary forces, as they occur especially in fibrous or multiphilic structures. Due to the influences can basically a deterioration of the print image sharpness occur.
- a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention is that the multiphile structure of the area to be printed is smoothed, wherein in the area a reduction of interactions between textile and ink, in particular of interactions, the surface tension and / or shape of ink on the textile influence is effected. Smoothing the fabric in the print area can further reduce the interaction between ink droplets and fabric.
- an advantageous rectification of the fibrous structure of a textile to be printed can be effected.
- a thread or a fiber of a textile to be printed can not only be sealed, but also adapted to the requirements of textile printing in terms of spatial orientation.
- an ink droplet can be provided in a particularly accurate position and can be exposed to lesser interactions with the textile.
- the multiplicity of different interactions between the material of the textile to be printed and the ink used can also take place simultaneously.
- physical repulsive (off) or attractive (on) forces such as, for example, hydrophilic-hydrophilic (on), hydrophobic-hydrophobic (on), hydrophilic-hydrophobic (ab), and van der Waals interactions between textile and ink to carry.
- These can change or influence the behavior of individual ink droplets on the textile, in particular their surface tension. This may favor a flow of the otherwise clearly defined ink droplet contour into the tissue, which may result in disadvantageous blurring of the printed image.
- the wetting composition according to the invention may be configured to seal threads and fibers of the pretreated textile, thereby providing a textile surface which has at least minor interactions with ink droplets, in particular uniform or smooth.
- An expedient embodiment of the invention consists in that a solvent is removed during drying of the treatment composition, leaving behind a thermoplastic component. Reducing the proportion of solvent can contribute to the treatment composition adhering to the textile in a particularly stationary manner until it is activated. The risk of transferring treatment composition to other surfaces, in particular other areas of the textile or other textile parts is thereby limited.
- drying by means of heated air or heat radiation can be accomplished in order to remove the proportion of solvent in the applied treatment composition. It is particularly preferred that when drying the treatment composition, the temperature during the heat drying is lower than the melting temperature range of at least that of the thermoplastic component. The removal of the solvent portion may be proportionate or complete as needed, whereby a viscosity but also a strength of the dried treatment composition is adjustable.
- a solvent content can also by applying a reduced pressure, which is in particular smaller than the ambient pressure surrounding the drying apparatus, to be changed.
- solvent can be removed from the treatment composition particularly efficiently leaving nonvolatile components such as the thermoplastic component.
- the components of the treatment composition remaining on the textile can in particular be those which contribute to the sealing, ie to the pretreatment, of the textile surface.
- thermoplastic component is melted by the heat treatment and pressing and that the molten thermoplastic component is distributed at least on the surface of the threads.
- the activation of the treatment composition on the textile can be achieved in particular by an interaction of heat and pressure.
- a temperature can be set which is greater than or equal to the melting range of at least the thermoplastic component, whereby a flowability of the treatment composition, in particular of the thermoplastic component, can be achieved.
- Particularly effective is the activation of the treated textile at a pressure of 2 bar to 100 bar, more preferably at 25 bar to 75 bar pressing pressure.
- a particularly uniform distribution of the thermoplastic component can be achieved on the surface of the threads, which in particular can be beneficial to a smoothing of multiphile or fibrous portions of the textile.
- a further preferred embodiment of the invention is that the textile after the pretreatment by a wet printing process, in particular by an inkjet process is printed with at least one ink.
- ink droplets such as occur in a wet printing process, can be provided particularly precisely on the textile.
- the pretreatment of the textile can counteract a runaway of the ink droplet and a wandering of the individual ink droplets on the textile.
- a preferred embodiment of the device according to the invention for pretreating at least one textile to be printed is that the wetting device has at least one nozzle, by means of which the treatment composition is providable at least in the printing area.
- the treatment composition can be provided in particular in fluidic form or with a viscosity which allows application to a textile to be pretreated with a nozzle.
- a plurality of nozzles are used, whereby the pretreatment of the textile to be printed can be carried out in a particularly time-saving manner.
- the nozzles are individually controllable to apply individually treatment composition on the textile.
- it may be expedient to heat the wetting composition before application which may be beneficial to improved nozzle flow.
- at least one heated nozzle can be provided for this purpose.

As a result, a particularly rapid pretreatment of the textile with the treatment composition can be achieved. Textile and wetting device can be arranged in each case and independently movable on the device for pretreatment, which allows not only the surface wetting of the textile, but also individually shaped wetting areas on the textile. This can promote a particularly gentle use of wetting composition.
- a further embodiment of the invention consists in that the heating device and the pressing device are designed to simultaneously act on the wetted textile.
- the textile can be pretreated in a particularly advantageous manner, wherein a particularly uniform distribution, in particular of the thermoplastic component, can be achieved in the textile.
- the pressing device can help to provide a particularly flat surface for printing on the textile, which may be particularly poor on protruding fibers of the textile.
- the heating device melts the treatment composition, at least begins before it is pressed.

Abstract
Description
