Procédé de fonctionnement d'un dispositif de hotte aspirante (1) avec un dispositif de carter (2) et un dispositif de conduite de vapeurs (5) sur une zone d'aspiration (6) pour des vapeurs, dans lequel, au moyen d'un dispositif de déplacement (9) sur lequel est logé le dispositif de conduite de vapeurs, le dispositif de conduite de vapeurs (5) est déplacé par rapport au dispositif de carter (2) entre au moins une première position (8) et au moins une deuxième position (7) et inversement, le dispositif de déplacement (9) comprend un dispositif de précontrainte (10), un dispositif à moteur (11) et un dispositif d'accouplement (12), et dans lequel le dispositif de conduite de vapeurs (5) est déplacé par le dispositif de déplacement (9) dans la direction verticale et/ou dans la direction horizontale, caractérisé en ce que, lors du déplacement à partir de la première position (8) vers la deuxième position (7), le dispositif à moteur (11), conjointement avec le dispositif d'accouplement (12), déplace le dispositif de conduite de vapeurs (5), en particulier dans la direction verticale, à partir de la première position (8) vers une position intermédiaire, en ce que, dans la position intermédiaire, le dispositif de précontrainte (10) est libéré, et en ce que le dispositif de précontrainte (10) déplace le dispositif de conduite de vapeurs (5), en particulier dans la direction horizontale, à partir de la position intermédiaire vers la deuxième position.
