Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a pair of pliers, in particular a water pump pliers, according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Water pump pliers are known from the prior art, which are used in particular by installers in heating construction as well as in the installation of sanitary facilities or the laying of water pipes.
  • a water pump pliers is characterized by the fact that it has two long gun arms, which allow a high gripping force with only one-handed operation due to the lever set between the jaws.
  • the water pump pliers is versatile and suitable for gripping nuts of different sizes, such as nuts with a diameter for a 10ner mouth width up to a 28iger or even 32iger mouth width, are suitable and also with the water pump pliers different diameters of pipes can be taken
  • Water pump pliers an adjusting mechanism, which allows the two gun arms so relatively translational move, that the jaws are variable in their distance from each other.
  • the two pliers arms which are displaced relative to one another, are fixed in a positionally fixed position via the adjusting mechanism, so that the forceps jaws open by performing a forceps movement and shut down.
  • a water pump pliers is usually moved back to a starting position, so that the jaws bear substantially form-fitting manner to each other, so that an injury, such as a pinch, due to the accidental work movement, is avoided.
  • a water pump pliers in which two pliers arms are inserted into one another, wherein in an inner pliers arm a slot is formed and the slot has a bordering tooth profile.
  • the second tong arm is rotatably mounted about a locking piece, wherein the locking piece is translationally movable in the slot and can be transferred by an axial movement orthogonal to the slot direction in two different positions.
  • a first position is taken over the locking piece, in which both gun arms positionally fixed in translation, but are rotatably mounted to each other.
  • the locking piece If the locking piece is moved axially in a second position, a translational displacement of the locking piece is made possible within the slot. So that the locking piece is basically held in a locking position, a compressive force is exerted on the locking piece via a leaf spring. As a result, the adjustment improves, especially with limited available working space, for example when mounting in the space of several laid pipe strands.
  • the handling especially a one-handed handling for Adjustment of the water pump pliers, but is only conditionally possible with high skill of the applying mechanic.
  • the forceps in a between the jaws and the gun arms extending transition region is very solid, which is why it has top heavy weight due to the material of the gun arms in the transition region and the locking piece.
  • the head load is located at the opposite end of the pliers, where it is gripped by the applying fitter, the pliers here has a high inertia and it takes at hours for many applications of high handling forces to the pliers several hundred or even move several thousand times on a working day to different tool-application positions.
  • the object of the present invention is, starting from the prior art, to improve a pair of pliers, in particular a water pump pliers, in such a way that it is easier to handle with favorable manufacturability and furthermore to provide increased strength. It is a further object of the present invention to improve the handling of the pliers.
  • the invention relates to a pair of pliers according to the preamble of independent claim 1.
  • the locking piece can be moved translationally in the slot, which is considered a preferred embodiment.
  • the slot itself may also be curved, for example, the slot has an arcuate course.
  • the locking piece is then displaceable within the slot following the arcuate course.
  • the slot can thus follow in a pliers arm whose course, which may also be curved.
  • the edges of the slot would be formed with substantially constant thickness, since both slot in this case, as well as pliers have a same course.
  • the sawtooth profile arranged in the oblong hole can be any kind of profiling which can be brought into engagement in a form-fitting manner in a limited number of positions.
  • the sawtooth profile can be formed from saw teeth configured in a triangular or pyramidal cross-section, but it is also possible for a corrugated profile to be formed or else a profile having a different geometric shape, wherein the geometric shape with the locking piece positively fixed in a limited number of different positions fixed position for engagement can be brought.
  • the individual teeth or else indentations of the profile can be arranged directly adjacent to one another or else at a distance from one another, so that, for example, only two or three different position-fixed positions relative to one another are made possible. In the context of the invention, however, it may also be directly adjacent teeth that allow, for example, 10 or even 20 different locking positions by the translational movement of the two forceps arms to each other.
  • the actuating lever is a lever which is pivotally mounted on the pliers, in particular on a pliers arm, and is coupled with one side in a form-fitting manner with the locking piece and on which this opposite side is manually operable.
  • the actuating lever is pressed by a thumb of an applying mechanic in the direction of the forceps itself, being transferred by the lever movement, the locking piece of the blocking position in the release position. Following this, it is possible to move the two forceps arms, for example, by engaging one another with one palm and the four remaining fingers and a displacement of the fingers and palm to each other.

  • the locking piece for this purpose has a lens head, which very particularly preferably in one piece on the Locking piece is formed and is under attack either by a clevis of the actuating lever or is engaged behind a form-fitting manner in a receiving opening of the actuating lever.
  • the locking piece and the actuating lever perform a relative movement with respect to each other, so that a simple movement of the locking piece from the blocking position to the release position and from the release position to the blocking position is made possible without the locking piece being tilted into the tong arms.
  • the forceps on a first tong arm and a second tong arm and the two tong arms are rotatably connected to each other via a pivot axis, wherein each tong arm a handle portion, a head portion disposed on the head portion jaws and a between the head portion and the handle portion which has an opening width of the jaws is variable and the pliers in particular also has the features described above, achieved in that at least one gun arm in the head portion has a truss structure, wherein the truss structure is optimized power flow and or that the jaws having a gripping area and a tip, wherein the executable by the forceps arms rotational movement of the forceps arms is limited so that when completely closed pliers, the distance between the tips of the back is always smaller than the distance of the jaws in the gripping area.
  • a truss structure is to be understood as meaning a structure which is formed from trusses arranged in a truss-like manner and interspaces arranged within the struts.
  • the struts are opposite to the intermediate spaces, wherein the orientation of the struts are selected depending on the expected force flows. This makes it possible to optimize the forceps, in particular in the head-side region or in the extending from the head portion to the handle portion transition section in their weight, while maintaining at least the same strength. This results in a much easier handling, so that the limbs of the arm of the user installer are spared because he has to spend much lower forces to pivot the pliers in the respective working position.
  • the pliers is to produce much cheaper through material savings, especially in this area.
  • the high strength properties wherein the strength properties are at least the same, if not higher, despite material savings than conventionally made water pump pliers, are achieved by a forge technology production of the gun arms.
