- the mirror or mirrors must be so correct the influence of the window curvature of the windshield on the image that the Fah ⁇ can rer an undistorted image perceive.
- magnification ⁇ ßern the mirror or mirrors the image of the Bilderzeugungseinrich ⁇ processing. Since the windshield contours usually have complex, non-symmetrical surfaces with variable curvatures, and are therefore also referred to as free-form surfaces, the surfaces of the mirror or mirrors must also be designed as free-form surfaces.
- Disadvantageous at the moment known devices is that they require a large amount of space that is only partially available when using the device as a head-up display in a motor vehicle, since the device is preferably located in the cockpit and the cockpit very many functional elements of the power ⁇ vehicle as conventional instrumentation, space for the avionics and space for ventilation ducts, ⁇ for Availability checked supply must provide.
- the object of the invention is therefore to provide a device for Dar ⁇ position of optical information by means of a virtual image, in particular before, into ⁇ particular the windshield pass behind or on a surface of a motor vehicle on ⁇ , the comparison with the known head-up display with mirror optics has a lower volume requirement.
- This is achieved by arranging an optical element (SOE) influencing the beam path in the beam path after the image generating device and in front of the surface, and in that the optical element influencing the beam path is changeably arranged in its position.

- the positional changeability of the optical path influencing optical element is particularly simple if it is displaceably arranged in its position.
- the equalization can be realized particularly simply by arranging a second, defractive optical element in the beam path after a first diffractive optical element. Even if this second defractive optical element is changeable in its position, the degree of influenceability is even greater.
- a simple structure is given in a device in which the two defractive optical elements are angeord ⁇ net in planes, which are parallel to each other. If the two optically displaceable elements are displaceable in different directions, the possible adaptation to occurring tolerances is further simplified.
- the beam path between the image forming means and the surface of one or more additional mirrors angeord ⁇ net are of the beam path of one or more of the mirror can be folded to one and therefore a compact apparatus can be achieved and with an aspherical configuration for the second adjustment to the windshield to continue be improved.
- the beam path can be further shortened and even more compact Construction be realized.

- an image forming apparatus 1 be ⁇ standing out from a liquid crystal display 2 and a Licht ⁇ source 3, a defraktives optical element 4, a wind ⁇ windshield WS, an imaginary image P and an eye E of a Observer.
- the LCD 2 is irradiated by light beams of the light source 3. These rays S penetrate the diffractive optical element 4 and are reflected by the windshield WS to the eye E of an observer so that they can perceive the virtual image P outside the windshield.
- the defractive optical element 4 is arranged adjustable in its height and width extent, as indicated by Pfei ⁇ le A. Due to this adjustability of the diffractive optical element, an undistorted representation of the virtual image P can be achieved.
- Ele ⁇ is additionally an adjusting elements 5 and a second defraktives optical element 4 is disposed.
- the diffractive optical element EIe- 4 is arranged by the adjusting device 5 adjustably ⁇ .
- the second diffractive optical element 4 further expands the rays S, so that the virtual image P appears even larger to the observer with the eye E.
