Ein Thermosiphon umfasst einen dichten, eine Wärmetransportsubstanz zum Teil als Flüssigkeit, zum Teil als Dampf enthaltenden Behälter (1) und eine an einer ersten Wand (4) des Behälters (1) angebrachte Wärmesenke (5). An der Innenseite einer zweiten Wand (9) des Behälters (1) sind Kapillarleitungen, vorzugsweise in Form einer porösen Schicht (10), gebildet.

Description

Thermosiphon
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft einen Thermosiphon nach dem Oberbegriff des Anspruches 1. Ein solcher Thermosiphon ist aus WO 99/58906 bekannt.
Wenn zur Kühlung eines Wärmereservoirs wie etwa des Innenraumes eines Kältegerätes eine Wärmesenke mit hoher flächenbezogener Leistungsdichte wie ein Peltier-Element eingesetzt wird, tritt das Problem auf, dass Wärme aus dem Reservoir nicht schnell genug zur Oberfläche der Wärmesenke nachfließen kann, so dass diese im Betrieb eine Temperatur annimmt, die deutlich niedriger ist als die aktuelle Temperatur des Wärmereservoirs und auch als die Zieltemperatur, auf die das Wärmereservoir gekühlt werden soll. Diese tiefe Temperatur zu erzielen erfordert einen hohen Energieaufwand, so dass der effektive Wirkungsgrad des eine solche Wärmesenke verwendenden Kältegerätes um so niedriger ist, je tiefer die Temperatur der Wärmesenke während des Betriebs wird. Das gleiche Problem tritt mit umgekehrtem Vorzeichen an einer Wärmequelle auf, die von der Wärmesenke aufgenommene thermische Energie an ein zweites Reservoir, im Allgemeinen die Umgebung, abgibt.
Um diese Probleme zu lindern, ist in WO 99/58906 ein Kältegerät vorgeschlagen worden, das sogenannte Thermosiphons verwendet. Ein solcher Thermosiphon ist ein hermetisch dichter Behälter, der eine Wärmetransportsubstanz zum Teil als Flüssigkeit, zum Teil als Dampf enthält und bei dem eine Wärmesenke oder -quelle mit hoher flächenbezogener Leistung an einer ersten Wand des Behälters angebracht ist und eine zweite Wand vorgesehen ist, um mit einem Wärmereservoir in Kontakt gebracht zu werden.
Es wird zwischen positiven und negativen Thermosiphons unterschieden, je nachdem, ob an der ersten Wand des Behälters eine Wärmequelle oder -senke angebracht ist.
Bei einem positiven Thermosiphon wird die flüssige Phase der Wärmetransportsubstanz an der Wärmequelle zum Sieden gebracht, wodurch die Wärme von der Quelle mit hoher Effizienz abgeführt wird, und der Dampf kondensiert an der zweiten Wand des Behälters, die in thermischem Kontakt mit einem Reservoir steht, das kühler als die Wärmequelle ist. Bei einem negativen Wärmesiphon steht die zweite Wand in thermischem Kontakt mit einem Wärmereservoir, das wärmer als die Wärmesenke ist, und mit Hilfe von über die zweite Wand eingetragener Wände verdunstete Wärmetransportflüssigkeit kondensiert auf einer vergleichsweise kleinen durch die Wärmesenke gekühlten Fläche der ersten Wand, wodurch ein intensivierter Wärmefluss an der Wärmesenke erreicht wird.
Aufgrund der an den zwei Wänden des Behälters stattfindenden Phasenübergänge kann in dem Wärmesiphon eine wesentlich größere Energiemenge transportiert werden als in einem Behälter mit gleichen Abmessungen, in dem die Wärmetransportsubstanz nur in einem einzigen Aggregatzustand vorliegt.
Während bei einem positiven Thermosiphon die Effektivität mit zunehmender Heizleistung der Wärmequelle immer weiter steigt, weil das Verhältnis von Dampf zu Flüssigkeit immer größer und der Dampf immer dichter wird, so dass (selbst wenn man die in dem Behälter auftretende Konvektionsgeschwindigkeit als temperaturunabhängig annimmt) der Durchsatz an Wärmeenergie immer höher wird (solange die Wärmetransportsubstanz nicht vollständig verdampft ist), nimmt bei einem negativen Wärmesiphon die Effektivität mit zunehmender Kühlleistung der Wärmesenke ab, weil die Dampfdichte abfällt und damit immer weniger Wärmetransportsubstanz im Behälter zur Verfügung steht, die an der Wärmesenke kondensieren und so Wärme abgeben kann. Um einen effektiven negativen Thermosiphon zu erhalten, ist es daher wichtig, durch geeignete konstruktive Maßnahmen den Dampfdruck in dem Thermosiphon stets möglichst nahe an dem der jeweiligen Betriebstemperatur des Thermosiphons entsprechenden Sättigungsdampfdruck zu halten.
Diese Aufgabe wird gelöst durch einen Thermosiphon mit den Merkmalen des Anspruches 1. Während bei dem herkömmlichen negativen Thermosiphon lediglich die Oberfläche der Flüssigkeitsphase im Behälter zur Verfügung steht, um dort die Wärme¬ transportsubstanz verdunsten zu lassen, und Wärme, die über oberhalb des Flüssigkeitsspiegels liegende Wandbereiche in den Thermosiphon eindringt, im Wesentlichen nur zur Erwärmung des Dampfes beiträgt, nicht aber zur Vergrößerung der Dampfdichte, erlauben es die erfindungsgemäßen Kapillarleitungen, die flüssige Wärmetransportsubstanz an der Innenseite der zweiten Wand aufsteigen zu lassen, so dass eine Verdampfung von Wärmetransportflüssigkeit im Wesentlichen auf der gesamten Fläche der zweiten Wand möglich ist und kalter Sattdampf entsteht, der einen wirksamen Wärmetransport zur Wärmesenke ermöglicht.
Die Kapillarleitungen sind vorzugsweise dadurch gebildet, dass die Innenseite der zweiten Wand eine Auskleidung aus einem porösen Material trägt.
Bei diesem Material kann es sich insbesondere um eine poröse Keramik, etwa auf Aluminiumoxidgrundlage, handeln, um Kieselgel, oder um ein Fasermaterial wie etwa Glasfaser.
Um einen effektiven Wärmeübergang von der zweiten Wand auf das poröse Material und die darin aufsteigende Wärmetransportflüssigkeit zu gewährleisten, ist die Auskleidung vorzugsweise materialschlüssig mit der zweiten Wand verbunden. Eine solche materialschlüssige Verbindung kann durch Verkleben der porösen Auskleidung an der Innenseite der Wand hergestellt sein, oder dadurch, dass die Auskleidung aus einem an der Innenseite der Wand verfestigten Material hergestellt ist.
Einer anderen Ausgestaltung zufolge ist die Auskleidung zwischen der zweiten Wand und einer durchbrochenen Zwischenwand eingeklemmt, deren Durchbrechungen den Zutritt von Wärmetransportflüssigkeit zu der Auskleidung bzw. das Entweichen von Dampf zulassen.
Unter normalen Betriebsbedingungen sollten die Kapillarleitungen in die Flüssigkeit eintauchen, so dass ständiger Nachschub an zu verdampfender Flüssigkeit gewährleistet ist.
Bei der Wärmesenke handelt es sich vorzugsweise um ein thermoelektrisches Element wie etwa ein Peltier-Element.
Weitere Merkmale und Vorteile der Erfindung ergeben sich aus der nachfolgenden Beschreibung von Ausführungsbeispielen unter Bezugnahme auf die beigefügten Figuren. Es zeigen: Fig. 1 einen schematischen vertikalen Schnitt durch einen erfindungsgemäßen Thermosiphon entlang der Ebene l-l der Fig. 2;

Der in Fig. 1 gezeigte Thermosiphon umfasst ein hermetisch dichtes Gehäuse 1 aus einem gut wärmeleitenden Material wie etwa Aluminium mit einem einzigen, nicht unterteilten Innenraum 2. Eine in den Innenraum 2 eingefüllte Menge einer
Wärmetransportsubstanz wie zum Beispiel Butan ist so bemessen, dass sie in flüssigem
Zustand den Innenraum 2 nicht vollständig ausfüllt. Unter normalen Betriebsbedingungen des Thermosiphons befindet sich daher ein Vorrat an flüssiger Wärmetransportsubstanz 3 am Boden des Innenraumes 2, und der Rest des Innenraumes 2 enthält die
Wärmetransportsubstanz in Form von Dampf, dessen Druck von den Temperaturen abhängt, denen der Thermosiphon ausgesetzt ist.
Im oberen Bereich einer ersten Wand 4 des Gehäuses 1 , oberhalb des Flüssigkeitsspiegels, ist als eine Wärmesenke die kalte Seite 5 eines Peltier-Elementes angebracht. Eine warme Seite 6 des Peltier-Elementes steht in thermischem Kontakt mit einem Hilfsmittel zur Wärmedissipation 7, wie etwa einem herkömmlichen Rippenkühler oder einem positiven Thermosiphon.
Der von der kalten Seite 5 des Peltier-Elementes berührte Teil der Wand 4 bildet die kälteste Stelle des Gehäuses 1 , so dass die dampfförmige Wärmetransportsubstanz bevorzugt hier kondensiert, wie durch Tropfen 8 an der Innenseite der Wand 4 angedeu¬ tet, und die Wand 4 hinab zum Flüssigkeitsvorrat 3 fließt. An der Innenseite einer der ersten Wand 4 gegenüberliegenden zweiten Wand 9 des Gehäuses 1 ist eine poröse Schicht 10 angebracht. Die poröse Schicht 10 ist hier eine keramische Schicht aus Aluminiumoxid oder einem Gemisch auf Aluminiumoxidgrund¬ lage, das in Form einer Suspension zusammen mit einem geeigneten Bindemittel auf die Innenseite der Wand 9 aufgeschleudert und daran durch Verdunsten der Trägerflüssigkeit der Suspension verfestigt und angeheftet ist. Alternativ kommt als Grundbestandteil der porösen Schicht 10 auch Kieselgel in Betracht.
Grundsätzlich wäre es auch möglich, die poröse Schicht 10 getrennt von der Wand 9 vorzufertigen und sie anschließend mit Hilfe eines Klebstoffs an der Wand zu befestigen. Da allerdings die Schicht 10 möglichst dünn sein sollte, um den Wärmefluss durch die Wand 9 in den Innenraum 2 nicht zu verlangsamen, ist anzunehmen, dass geeignete vorgefertigte Schichten 10 mit der benötigten Porosität sehr empfindlich und schwierig zu handhaben sein werden, so dass die direkte Erzeugung der Schicht 10 an der Wand 9 als das aussichtsreichere Verfahren angesehen wird.
Die Schicht 10 taucht an ihrem unteren Ende in den Vorrat 3 an flüssiger Wärmetransportsubstanz ein. Die Porosität der Schicht 10 ist so eingestellt, dass sie das Aufsteigen der Wärmetransportflüssigkeit in der Schicht 10 über die gesamte Höhe des Innenraumes 2 ermöglicht, so dass die von außen über die Wand 9 zufließende Wärme weitestgehend für die Verdunstung der Wärmetransportflüssigkeit verbraucht wird. Die große Oberfläche der porösen Schicht 10 ermöglicht eine hohe Verdunstungsrate, durch die an der Wand 4 kondensierter Dampf umgehend ersetzt wird, so dass der Dampfdruck im Innenraum 2 nicht wesentlich unter den Sättigungsdampfdruck der Wärme¬ transportsubstanz bei der Betriebstemperatur des Thermosiphons abfällt.
Um den Wärmezufluss in den Thermosiphon über die zweite Wand 9 zu intensivieren, kann diese, wie in Fig. 2 gezeigt, an ihrer Außenseite mit Rippen oder Lamellen 11 versehen sein.
Lamellen 12 können auch an der Innenseite der Wand 9 vorgesehen sein. So zeigt Fig. 3 eine Struktur mit innenseitigen vertikalen Lamellen 12, die niedriger sind als die Dicke der porösen Schicht 10, um einerseits in den Zwischenräumen 13 zwischen den Lamellen einen ausreichenden Leitungsquerschnitt für den Aufstieg der Flüssigkeit 3 bereitzustellen und andererseits über die Lamellen 12 die Wärme effektiv in einen oberflächennahen Bereich der Schicht 10 zu führen und die Wärmetransportflüssigkeit so zügig und effizient zu verdunsten.
Andererseits können, wie in Fig. 4 gezeigt, auch Lamellen 14 vorgesehen sein, die höher als die Dicke der Schicht 10 sind und deren Wirkung einfach in einer Vergrößerung der mit dem porösen Material bedeckten Wandoberfläche liegt.
Eine weitere alternative Ausgestaltung des Querschnitts des Thermosiphons ist in Fig. 5 gezeigt. Hier ist die poröse Schicht 10 nicht vollflächig an der Wand 9 befestigt, sondern zwischen der Wand und einer Zwischenwand 15 eingeklemmt, in die eine Vielzahl von großen Löchern 16 gebrochen ist, damit die Zwischenwand 15 den Austritt von verdampfter Wärmetransportsubstanz aus der porösen Schicht 10 nicht nennenswert behindert.
Zur Befestigung der Zwischenwand 15 kann, wie im oberen Teil von Fig. 5 gezeigt, eine an einer Seitenwand des Gehäuses 1 geformte vertikale Rippe 17 dienen, an die die Zwischenwand 15 durch das geringfügig elastische komprimierte Material der porösen Schicht 10 angedrückt ist. Gleichzeitig hält so die Zwischenwand 15 die poröse Schicht gegen die Wand 9 gedrückt und sorgt so für einen effizienten Wärmeübergang von der Wand 9 in die Schicht 10 und die darin aufsteigende Flüssigkeit.
Alternativ können, wie im unteren Teil der Figur dargestellt, Gewindestifte 18 an der Wand
9 befestigt sein, auf denen die poröse Schicht 10 aufgespießt ist und an denen die Zwischenwand 15 jeweils durch eine Mutter 19 angedrückt gehalten ist. Diese Variante hat den Vorteil, dass sie eine stufenlose Einstellung der Kompression der porösen Schicht
10 ermöglicht. Das heißt, die Kompression kann erhöht werden, um den Kapillareffekt in der Schicht 10 zu steigern, wenn sich herausstellt, dass dieser nicht ausreicht, um die gesamte Fläche der Wand 9 ausreichend mit zu verdampfender Flüssigkeit zu versorgen, oder er kann verringert werden, wenn das Material zu stark verdichtet ist, um eine ausreichende Flüssigkeitsversorgung zu gewährleisten.
Als flexibles Material für die poröse Schicht 10 ist bei dieser Ausgestaltung insbesondere Glaswolle geeignet, wobei die Faserausrichtung vorzugsweise vertikal ist. Auch andere Fasermaterialien wie etwa natürliche Textilfasern oder gegen die verwendete Transportsubstanz beständige Kunststofffasern können verwendet werden.

Claims

Patentansprüche
1. Thermosiphon mit einem dichten, eine Wärmetransportsubstanz zum Teil als Flüssigkeit, zum Teil als Dampf enthaltenden Behälter (1) und einer an einer ersten Wand (4) des Behälters (1) angebrachten Wärmesenke (5) , dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass an der Innenseite einer zweiten Wand (9) des Behälters (1)
Kapillarleitungen gebildet sind.
2. Thermosiphon nach Anspruch 1 , dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Kapillarleitungen an der Innenseite der zweiten Wand (9) durch eine Auskleidung aus einem porösen Material (10) gebildet sind.
3. Thermosiphon nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Auskleidung (10) eine Keramik auf Aluminiumoxidgrundlage ist.
4. Thermosiphon nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Auskleidung (10) Kieselgel enthält.
5. Thermosiphon nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Auskleidung (10) ein Fasermaterial umfasst.
6. Thermosiphon nach Anspruch 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Fasermaterial Glasfaser ist.
7. Thermosiphon nach einem der Ansprüche 2 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Auskleidung (10) materialschlüssig mit der zweiten Wand (9) verbunden ist.
8. Thermosiphon nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Auskleidung (10) verklebt ist.
9. Thermosiphon nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Auskleidung (10) aus einem an der Innenseite der zweiten Wand verfestigten Material hergestellt ist.
10. Thermosiphon nach einem der Ansprüche 2 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Auskleidung (10) zwischen der zweiten Wand und einer durchbrochenen Zwischenwand (15) eingeklemmt ist.
11. Thermosiphon nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Kapillarleitungen unter normalen Betriebsbedingungen in die Flüssigkeit (3) eintauchen.
12. Thermosiphon nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Wärmesenke (5) ein thermoelektrisches Element ist.
