Definitions
- the present invention relates to printing presses.
- the present concerns Invention a sheet transport device e.g. to transport newspapers, especially a sheet transport device with collating or movable along a path Collecting pockets.
- the invention relates to a device for separating Pre-fold and post-fold of a first folded section of sheet material in one Sheet receiving pocket and a method for separating pre-fold and post-fold in Sheet receiving pockets.
- Sheet transport devices in particular devices for transporting newspapers, must be able to insert different multipage sections into each other or to collect or collect.
- the completion of a newspaper will in particular a first folded section of the newspaper in the form of a folded section of sheets opened so that at least a second section between the two sides of the Section from folded sheets can be inserted.
- the second section can again consist of a third, fourth and more interlocking sections.
- Newspapers include well-known An angular bag that first transports a first section picks up, opens and in the open state is transported to an insertion station.
- Known devices with pockets are e.g. in US 4,133,521 and in US 5,213,318.
- the insertion station places the second section in the open one first section, making a product of two interlocking sections arises. This process can be used to produce a finished newspaper with several Sections are repeated.
- each section points to facilitate opening a pre-fold, i.e. the section is not folded in the middle, so that the two ends of the folded section of sheets are not the same size.
- the front end of the folded section of sheets is generally longer than the rear end of the folded section of sheets. So if the fold edge of the Section of bow located at the bottom of the bag is when looking at the ends of the folded section of sheets from above to see that the pre-fold is longer than that Folio.
- the folded section of sheets can be opened by the pre-fold of one (working with physical contact and / or suction) Device is detected and the pocket or the folded section of sheet is moved or so is tilted that gravity (possibly supported by suction) causes the Post fold folds away from the pre fold.
- gravity possibly supported by suction
- An opening is created from the pre-fold into which a second section can be inserted.
- a second section can be inserted into the first section, so that the second section is between the sides of the first section.
- This Sections combined into one section can then be combined into another Section. This process can be repeated until one is off a plurality of nested sections of conventional newspaper formed from sheets is finished.
- the holding device is usually designed as a finger-shaped gripper. During the Opening operation, such a gripper is rotated or lowered to the pre-fold to to hold it against a front wall of the bag.
- Exemplary known gripping systems for such bags are in US 4,723,770, US 4,988,086 and US 5,024,432 described.
- US 5,911,416 describes a device for transporting sheet material with a Large number of pockets that can be moved along a path and thereby from Pick up sheet material feed stations.
- These bags enable, for example, that first a first at a first sheet material feed station Section of a newspaper is placed in the pocket and in the outer first Newspaper section then an inner newspaper section is inserted.
- the in the The device described above comprises a lifting cam which causes a semicircular toothed segment rotates a drive shaft and so the Height of pocket feet arranged on racks.
- An opening of the bag is prevented by a pawl mechanism. After locking, it can Sheet material is picked up and inserted into the pockets.
- To store the A release cam can release the pawl mechanism. With help a biasing spring moves the racks to a lowered position so that the feet are released by the action of a drive cam. That way it can Sheets of sheet material fall out of the bag at the bottom to be transported or stacked become.
- each The bag comprises two vertically adjustable stops 14 which are in a bag holder 8 are slidably arranged.
- a guide element 28 can supposedly be set in this way be that it moves the stops 14 vertically while the pockets along the endless path to be moved.
- the time window available for recording the pre-fold is short. Therefore there is Need for an extension of this time window to record the pre-fold. Since the The size of the pre-folds and the post-folds is neither uniform nor identical Enlargement of the time window also deviations in the size of the pre-fold and the Take into account post-rebate.
- a separator and a Process for separating pre-fold and post-fold of a first section To create sheet material in a pocket that requires inserting a second section into enable the first section, through which the disadvantages mentioned are known Devices and methods of this type are eliminated and which are necessary for the separation of the Pre-fold the time window available from the post-fold and at the same time Take into account deviations in the size of the pre and post fold.

- Each pocket 10 comprises movable fingers 90 for defining one Pocket height, its own height adjustment mechanism 8 and a detachable one Locking mechanism 9 for the height adjustment mechanism 8.
- the pockets 10 can be adjusted using the adjustment mechanism 8, which manually moves the fingers 90 to one of at least two desired heights e.g. on a setting to accept 26.67 cm (10.5 in.) folded Products.
- the adjustment process takes place when the pockets 10 are stationary and can also outside of setting range 1, e.g. by an operator who um goes on path 101.
- the pockets 10 can also be moved into the setting range 1 and the transport device 100 can be stopped so that each bag can be adjusted.
- An automated robot can also be set in setting range 1 be arranged, which cooperates with the adjusting mechanism 8 to the individual Bags 10 to the desired height when the bags 10 in the Adjustment range 1 moved and stopped there.
- first Sheet material feed station 2 passed where e.g. a folded cover section 6 a newspaper or other printed product is placed in the pocket 10.
- second sheet material feed station 3 can be completed of a printed product 12, a second section 7 between the pre-fold and the post-fold section 6. This can be done for any number of times Feeding stations 2, 3 are repeated to produce a finished printed product 12 with a To produce a plurality of sections 6, 7 arranged one inside the other. Accordingly, the Period between the inclusion of the section 6 in the pocket 10 from the feed station 2 and the positioning of the bag 10 under the feed station 3, the time window that for Open section 6 in the pocket to insert section 7 into section 6 is available.
- the pockets 10 can be released at a release station 4 are passed, at which the locking mechanism 9 is released.
- the preferably spring-loaded adjustment mechanism 8 then releases the fingers 90, so that the bottom of the bag 10 opens and the finished products 12 e.g. to a Conveyor belt 11 are stored.
- the pockets 10 pass a reset station 5
- the one Reset ramp 25 with a reset cam follower 156 (see FIG. 3) of the Adjustment mechanism 8 cooperating movable rising surface and one Locking device 35 for locking the locking mechanism 9 comprises.
- the pockets 10 are preferably all the pockets 10 set to the same height with the aid of the Reset ramp 25 reset to the common height and with the help of Locking mechanism 9 cooperating locking device 35 locked.
- the bag 10 includes an upper rear wall 54 and an upper front wall 52, between which have an opening 56 for receiving the sheet material, e.g. of the handling section 6, is formed.
- the pocket 10 also includes a side wall 44 and may be a lower one Include rear wall 64 and a lower front wall 62.
- FIG. 2B shows an enlarged view of the upper portion of that shown in Fig. 2A Pocket 10.
- FIG. 2B shows the area in which the pre-fold 61 of a cover section 6 is held.
- a gripper arrangement 53, 55, which holds the cover section 6, is located in the upper region of the upper front wall 52.
- the grippers 53, 55 are arranged coaxially on a common shaft 57, but are located in different rotational positions. Different gripper arrangements can, however also be arranged on different shafts that are controlled independently of each other become.
- the grippers of an arrangement can e.g. longer than another's grippers Arrangement.
- a control device pivots the grippers 53, 55 Shaft 57 between a stop position and a release position.
- Fig. 2B is one gripper 53 in the release position and the other gripper 55 in the holding position.
- the gripper 55 holds the pre-fold of the cover section 6 with respect to the upper front wall 52 fixed.
- FIG. 2B schematically represented by a dashed line.
- the cover section 6 When the cover section 6 is placed in the opening 56, its lower edge rests the line of contact between fingers 90 and upper rear wall 54. In the in Fig. 2A shown open position of the bag 10, the envelope section 6 is due by gravity completely against the upper rear wall 54 (see FIG. 5A). To Beginning of a process for gripping the cover section 6 with the aid of the grippers 53, 55, the upper rear wall 54 is pivoted about the axis 51 so that it is the upper Front wall 52 contacts as shown in Fig. 5B. Alternatively or additionally the entire rear wall 54, 64 can be moved in the direction of the front wall 52, 62.
- the grippers 53, 55 rotated into the holding position, in which it at least a portion of the Hold envelope section 6 against upper front wall 52 (see Figures 2B, 5C and 5D). If the grippers 53, 55 are set so that they are no further than the upper edge of the Nachfalzes 63 of the cover section 6 are sufficient, the grippers 53, 55 grasp only the Pre-fold 61 of the cover section 6. Then the pre-fold 61 against the upper Front wall 52 held and the rebate 63 of the cover section 6 through the Gravity and / or other device, e.g. a suction device 59 with which backward moving upper rear wall 54 moves. In this way, between the Pre-fold 61 and post-fold 63 an opening 56 for receiving a e.g. through the second sheet material feed station 3 supplied further section 7 is formed.
- the timing is of great importance in this process.
- the grasping of the pre-fold 61 by the grippers 53, 55 is delayed until the upper rear wall 54 has securely placed the pre-fold 61 on the upper front wall 52.
- Time also goes lost until the upper rear wall 54 and with this the rebate 63 far enough backwards is tilted to form an opening 56 that is large enough to be trouble-free To allow insertion of section 7.
- the invention increases the time window for this process by using a separation system 70 is provided for separating pre-fold and post-fold.
- This separation system 70 comprises at least one movably arranged on a separating element carrier system 74 Separating element 72 and is operated in the manner described below.
- the carrier system 74 is located in the vicinity or on the endless transport path 101, which is part of a pocket conveyor system.
- the carrier system 74 moves into the same Transport direction 17 as the transport system 101.
- the carrier system 74 is preferred formed as a circumferential band that follows the pockets 10, but with a other speed than this moves.
- Carrier system 74 may also be relative to the pockets 10 be vertically adjustable. In this way, a separating element 72 can be opened the bag 10 to be moved to or away from this. Such adjustment can by movement of the entire system 70 or a single separator 72 respectively.
- System 70 may be preset to a specific format or one automatic control system with adjustable motors and sensors to determine the Include position of pre-fold 61 or other portion.
- station 2 is first turned on (only shown in FIG. 1) Section 6 inserted into the pocket 10. A little later, preferably immediately afterwards, upper front wall 54 and section 6 must face upper front wall 52 be moved so that the operation of opening the section 6 to receive a another section 7 is initiated. Accordingly, as shown in Figs. 5A and 5B a separating element 72 with the pocket 10, but faster than this, in the transport direction 17 moves. The separating element 72 therefore catches up and overtakes the pocket 10 preferably immediately after section 6 is securely in pocket 10.
- the divider 72 is long enough to close the back of the upper rear wall 54 contact and to exert a sufficient force on them that they are heading towards the and against the upper front wall 52 pivots and so the section 6 between the upper rear wall 54 and the upper front wall 52 clamps.
- the carrier system 74 can alternatively also be designed so that the Lower partition 72 toward pocket 10 as shown in FIG. 5B.
- the carrier system 74 can be suitable for the separating element 72 from pocket 10 as shown in FIG. 5C.
- a lowering or Lifting section of the carrier system 74 depends on the function that the separating element 72 to perform with respect to the pocket 10. If the separator 72 is not needed it can be raised far enough that it is no longer part of the pocket 10 contacted.
- the separating element 72 consists preferably made of a flexible material. When the separator 72 against the bag 10 is pressed, it can bend in this way, as shown in Fig. 5D.
- the separator 72 moves with the pocket 10, it moves with the higher one Speed. In its movement past the pocket 10 or along it has End of the separating element 72 therefore completely at a point in time shown in FIG. 5C the upper rear wall 54 moves past. Since the separator 72 is no longer against the presses upper rear wall 54, this is by gravity or a designated Device, e.g. a bias spring, not shown, in its shown in Fig. 5A Starting position moved back. If the post fold 63 is lower than or as high as that is upper rear wall 54, then the rebate 63 with the upper rear wall 54 moved back, especially when the upper rear wall 54 is a suction device 59 having.
- a designated Device e.g. a bias spring
- the separating element 72 continues to move past the pocket 10, so that the Separating element 72 no longer exerts pressure on the rebate 63 at a later time, but only exercises on the pre-fold 61. When this pressure from the rebate 63 removed, it can move backward to the opening 45 for receiving the Form section 7 as shown in Fig. 5D.
- the partition member 72 presses against the upper front wall 52 (FIGS. 5B, 5C, 5D, 5E), pressure is applied to the pre-fold 61.
- the separating element 72 exercises Print on the pre-fold 61 as shown in Fig. 5E. Therefore, the grippers 53, 55 at any time after the upper rear wall 54 and the rebate 63 from the prefold 61 are folded away, are moved so that they hold the pre-fold 61 securely.
- the grippers 53, 55 must take the pre-fold 61 at the latest when the filing of the Section 7 in section 6 is imminent.
- the separator 72 contacts the upper rear wall 54 immediately after the bag 10 receives the section 6, and immediately in the transport direction 17 in motion puts.
- the speed of movement of the separator 72 defines how fast the Fold the top rear wall 54 and the rebate 63 away from the rebate 61. Since the Speed of movement of the separator 72 compared to the movement of the Pocket 10 along the circumferential path 101 is relatively high, using the Invention the top back panel 54 and the rebate 63 from the prefold 61 long before pocket 10 is located under station 3 to accommodate section 7.
- the invention thus speeds up the separation of the pre-fold 61 from the post-fold 63 and this extends the time window for gripping the pre-fold 61 by the grippers 53, 55.
- the extension of this time window means that longer grippers 53, 55 are used can be.
- the separating element 72 can have any shape. It can be as a single, more massive rectangular cuboid with a cross section shown in FIGS. 5A to 5E, which extends into the drawing plane in FIGS. 5A to 5E and extends over the entire width the pocket 10 extends. Here is the extent to which the cuboid enters the plane runs, significantly larger than the vertical cross section shown. Such a form is possible because the upper edges of the upper rear wall 54, the rebate 63, the prefold 61 and the upper front wall 52 all parallel to one another in the drawing plane of FIG. 5A run into 5E. Therefore there is the lower edge of such a rectangular cuboid each section of a respective top edge is essentially free at the same time.
- the separator 72 can also be a series of finger-shaped ones Devices may be formed, which from the carrier system 74 in the direction of a Pocket bottom 10 (i.e. in the direction of pivot 96).
- the separator 72 can also be a series of finger-shaped ones Devices may be formed, which from the carrier system 74 in the direction of a Pocket bottom 10 (i.e. in the direction of pivot 96).
- the single rectangular cuboid described above is the extent to which such finger-shaped devices into the drawing plane of Fig. 5A-5E, clearly smaller than the vertical cross section shown.
- These finger-shaped devices can have any shape and can e.g. also as a cylindrical rod or rectangular cuboid.
- the separator 72 may be a single one be finger-shaped device formed by the carrier system 74 in the direction of The bottom of the pocket 10 runs, this device has the same properties like the finger-shaped devices described in the previous section.
- the separating element 72 can be solid be trained.
- the first embodiment is similar to e.g. a window wiper.
- the separating element 72 can also be designed as a brush.
- the carrier system 74 is preferably designed as an endless belt along which one Large number of removable and accordingly adjustable individual dividing elements 72 is arranged.
- the positioning of the separating elements 72 on the belt determines here the timing of the functions of the separator 72 with respect to a pocket 10th
- the separation of the pre-fold 61 from the post-fold 63 prepared one first section 6 to form a pocket for inserting a second section 7 difficulties so far.
- the invention creates a new separation system for separating the Vorfalzes 61 of Nachfalzes 63 and extends the time window that the grippers 53, 55 to Is available to capture the pre-fold 61.
- the invention is the same Differences in the size of the pre-fold 61 and the post-fold 63 out.
