Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a wheelchair.
  • Conventional wheelchairs have two pairs of wheels, namely a pair of rear wheels two large, manually drivable rear wheels and a pair of front wheels with two essentials smaller front wheels arranged on the side of the wheelchair, the axles of which are in can rotate a horizontal plane around a pivot point.
  • These wheelchairs are general collapsible and have cross members made of two articulated Parts, each of which is hinged to a side member. When collapsing these wheelchairs are therefore reduced in width.
  • the disadvantage of this collapsible Wheelchairs lie in their due to the many articulated connections insufficient rigidity.
  • EP-0 887 064-A2 which forms a state of the art under Article 54 (3) EPC, describes, for example, a wheelchair of the type mentioned at the beginning; whose frame is closed and therefore relatively rigid.
  • This frame consists of a front horizontal cross member at foot level of the user, a rear horizontal cross member which is formed by an axle tube of the rear wheel pair, and two L-shaped side members, each of which connects one end of the front cross member to one end of the rear cross member, each side support has an upright leg and a longitudinal leg.
  • a front wheel device with a single central front wheel or with two spaced front wheels is attached to the front cross member.
  • This wheelchair has a high degree of rigidity and, thanks to the front wheel device which is generally arranged in the central region of the front cross member, is easy to turn and easy to maneuver. It is mainly used as a sports wheelchair.
  • the main disadvantage of this wheelchair is its low stability against tipping; it is therefore less suitable for everyday use and is considered unsuitable for severely disabled and older users.
  • a wheelchair is known from EP-0 255 804-A2 , which has a front cross member at foot height, two side members and a rear cross member in the form of an axle tube for a pair of rear wheels.
  • the side carriers are I-shaped and consist of an upright leg, to which a front wheel is attached, and an adjoining rearward side leg.
  • the rear side leg is connected in its rear area to the rear cross member via a support element and a holding device.
  • the intermediate piece is accommodated in the holding device so as to be adjustable in height. In this way, a frame is obtained which, although closed, does not have sufficient rigidity because of the non-rigid connection of the support element and the holding device.
  • the object of the invention is thus seen in the above-mentioned wheelchair to improve that he has a high level of stability while maintaining rigidity and thus has improved lateral tilt stability so that it is safe even from heavy Disabled and elderly disabled can be used.
  • the new wheelchair thus has a closed frame on, but is thanks to the attached to the front wheel carriers at a large mutual distance Front wheels significantly more stable and laterally more stable.
  • Another advantage of the new wheelchair is that it gives you the opportunity to Front wheel carriers to be arranged relatively far above the ground, so that front wheels are relatively Large diameter can be used, which makes driving on uneven Underground and climbing stairs is made easier.
  • front wheels can have different Diameters.
  • a weight-saving is achieved through a rigidly welded front suspension at the front, which makes the wheelchair easier to maneuver.
  • the front wheel carriers can be in different positions relative to the longitudinal median plane of the wheelchair on the upright legs of the side beams be attached.
  • the front wheel carriers can be parallel or inclined, respectively forwards or backwards, or laterally across the longitudinal median plane of the wheelchair extend, each of these arrangements certain advantages but also certain disadvantages offers.
  • Also extending far forward Front wheel carriers increase stability.
  • a disadvantage of these arrangements are the lower turning ability and the risk of such protruding front wheel carriers Touch objects in the vicinity of the wheelchair and thereby a disability for form the wheelchair movement.
  • front wheel carriers At forward-facing front wheel carriers generally have a larger footprint than backwards directed front wheel carriers, and also the foot area of the user against Injuries are protected if the front wheels are the foremost and where appropriate form the side of the wheelchair. This is accompanied by a reduction in Ease of turning and an aggravation of handling because of the danger with the front wheels to toast.
  • front wheel carriers directed forward and slightly towards the median longitudinal plane you get a very large footprint as well as good turning ability and avoids the collision of the front wheels with the environment, but such front wheel carriers can be unfavorable for the arrangement of the footrest.
  • front wheel carriers tried and tested which are directed slightly backwards inwards, making it even more sufficient Stability maintains good turning ability and prevents front wheel collisions.
  • the position of the front wheel carriers can be in relation to the longitudinal median plane of the wheelchair also be adjustable.
  • the attachment should be free of play and yourself do not loosen in use.
  • this increases the weight of the wheelchair and it becomes less easy to turn because the additional weight is relatively large Distance from the center of gravity of the wheelchair.
  • front wheel carriers are height adjustable on the upright legs of the side carriers are fixed, you also get the opportunity to coordinate with changing requirements To mount front wheels with different diameters.
  • the front cross member can be made integrally with the two side members. It has but it has proven to be favorable to design the front cross member so that it is on both sides an extending in the direction of the subsequent upright leg of the side member Approach, over which it is adjustable in height on this upright Leg is attached.
  • the height adjustment of the front cross member is particularly necessary if a footrest is formed on it.
  • the footrest can also be used on the upright Legs of the side carrier must be attached.
  • a footrest integrated in the frame allows a foot position in which the user's knees are less bent and consequently the feet are arranged further forward.
  • the bearings for the rear wheels are located in the rear wheel hub and are designed so that the rear wheels are mounted in a known manner with thru axles in angle adapter sleeves and are therefore easy to disassemble.
  • the angle adapter sleeves are in the assembled state for the axles of the rear wheels, which are generally designed as thru axles, transversely towards the direction of travel and slightly upwards to the side so that the wheels, like wheelchairs are usually arranged under a certain camber.
  • the rear crossmember, with the angle adapter sleeves attached in it be turned until it occupies the position in which the angle adapter sleeves are directed correctly, occupies its correct position; for this purpose on a spirit level must be installed in the rear crossmember.
  • the angular camber aligns on the one hand according to the dimensions of the wheelchair and on the other hand according to the respective Intended use of the wheelchair and is therefore preferably changeable.
  • To change of the wheel camber can be fixed angle bracket sleeves, which are in the rear cross member are pressed in and which contain the angle adapter sleeves for the axles of the rear wheels, be replaced in pairs.
  • the camber can be adjusted by means of such Angle adapter sleeves according to the invention can be changed between 0 ° and about 15 °.
  • a bike is a device with a front wheel, a drive and a steering.
  • the wheelchair is attached to the bike and forms together with the bike a drivable unit.
  • This unit runs on three wheels, namely the wheel of the bike, which forms a front wheel, and the rear racks of the wheelchair, which form rear wheels.
  • This arrangement is for wheelchairs Conventional conception has a certain disadvantage, namely the tendency of the wheelchair and thus the unit to tip backwards.
  • the wheelbase that is the mutual Distance between the front axle of the bike and the rear wheel pair of the wheelchair, increased.
  • the rear wheels and their attachment are designed so that the rear wheels between a front position in which they are when using the wheelchair without a bike and a rear position in which the wheelchair is less likely to tip over and so that it is suitable for biking.
  • the enlargement of the wheelbase can be achieved, for example, that the rear ends of the longitudinal legs have a rearwardly extending extension part on which the rear crossmember or the axle tube can be attached in different positions.
  • the axle tube will not be in its foremost position Position attached in a rear position. If there are multiple attachment points are provided for the additional side members, the wheelbase can optionally in certain Limits are adjusted. When using the wheelchair without a bike, they work under the Extension parts arranged on the seat surface are not disturbing. The wheelbase can be used for improvement the tilt safety can of course also be increased without the wheelchair coupled with a bike, however, this must deteriorate maneuverability to be accepted.
  • the seat of the wheelchair is located between the longitudinal legs of the side beams and can be attached to it.
  • the seat is in a particularly advantageous embodiment but attached to two additional side rails, and the rear facing Longitudinal legs of the side beams are directed slightly downwards.
  • a seat stay device is arranged; this has two seat stays, each pivotable at a pivot point on one of the Seat longitudinal member is attached and in selectable effective seat stay length on the longitudinal leg the side member of the frame is attached.
  • the seat side member and the seat stay are each a triangle in a vertical plane.
  • the maximum backward tilt that the seat can take is through determines the slope of the side member's longitudinal legs, and the maximum slope downwards, which the seat can take up, is determined by the length of the seat stays.
  • length-adjustable seat stays possibly with fluid-operated cylinder / piston devices or with spindles that could be used becomes an easy one Embodiment of the wheelchair designed according to the invention so that the seat stays have a large number of bores over their length.
  • Are preferred several possible attachment points of the seat side members at the front ends of the Longitudinal legs of the side members of the frame are provided in the longitudinal direction.
