Definitions
- the present invention relates to a surfing or sailing board and a method for the same Manufacturing.
- Surfboards are to be understood to mean all usual, essentially flat floating bodies that are suitable for surfing. As sailing boards they are, essentially to understand flat floats equipped with a sail or can be equipped and used for windsurfing and the like. Out For the sake of simplicity, the invention is illustrated below using the example of a surfboard described for surfing. However, it should be noted that this is not Restriction on the applicability of the invention means.
- Surf and sailing boards need a so-called fin to stabilize their direction, a often triangular shaped plate, the plane of which is essentially is arranged parallel to the direction of travel level.
- triangular basic shape of the Finns are numerous variations, e.g. a design in the manner of the sword of a sailboat, a design in which lines are strongly opposite to the direction of travel are curved, etc.
- triangular basic shape rectangular or trapezoidal shapes with straight or curved side edges possible.
- Surfing and sailing boards are usually made of a plastic, for example Epoxy resin, ABS or the like, which form the actual hull or body, and enclose a core made of foam such as polystyrene or polyurethane.
- a plastic for example Epoxy resin, ABS or the like, which form the actual hull or body, and enclose a core made of foam such as polystyrene or polyurethane.
- foam such as polystyrene or polyurethane.
- the boards have to be made as light as possible for various reasons, the actual plastic skin cannot be made very thick either. It prepares therefore problems to attach the fins to the board with sufficient strength.
- U.S. Patent 4,421,492 also shows a fin which extends in the longitudinal direction of the Boards is adjustable, and in which a longitudinal groove is also embedded in the board is. The fin can be moved back and forth with pins in holding grooves and is in the desired position held by a resilient part, which in recesses engages on the underside of the groove.
- a structure similar to the two the aforementioned patents are also shown in U.S. Patent 4,044,416.
- a fin is known from US Pat. No. 5,176,553 which is used for fastening to a Surfboard is embedded in an adapter, which in turn is in one on the Underside of the surfboard arranged recess is inserted.
- Several Screws extend from the top of the board through the board to that on the Underside of the board arranged recess and there grasp the unit made of fin and adapter.
- DE 41 21 541 A1 shows a fin, or more precisely an oar, which is divided into two, a first part being rigidly connected to the surfboard and a second part is movably arranged opposite the board.
- a fin or more precisely an oar, which is divided into two, a first part being rigidly connected to the surfboard and a second part is movably arranged opposite the board.
- the first and second Part of the surfboard has a recess on its underside.
- the first and second part are each fixed on the top of the surfboard, with the moving part is fixed so that the rotational movement is made possible.
- the object of the present invention to have a surfing or sailing board to create a fin that is easy and reliable to assemble, and where the connection between fin and surfboard is high at the same time Has strength.
- the position of the The fin can also be changed easily.
- the surfing or sailing board consists of an essentially elongated, flat float-shaped base body with its underside on the water rests on the top and a footprint for the feet of the board athlete is provided. There is at least one fin on the bottom attached.
- This design ensures that no projections, depressions or the like are provided on the underside of the board or on the fin, which influence the Current flow of the water covering the fin and the bottom of the board flow around, takes.
- This design has the main advantage that the attachment is not in the board itself takes place.
- the strength of the fin is therefore essentially of the strength the plastic outer skin and also the plastic foam independently.
- the area, in which the opening is arranged only has to be designed such that the through the compression stresses generated are reliably absorbed.
- the usual plastic foams are very sensitive to tensile loads, can withstand pressure loads relatively well. The design is coming therefore counter these material properties in a special way.
- a screw connection led through the board from above can be simple and for the user be made easily accessible. This allows the fins to be easily removed be, which considerably facilitates the transportation of the board, for example. Furthermore, it is not a problem to replace the fins if one of them different size are required for the prevailing operating conditions and it is also easy to quickly change the fin in the event of a break or the like.
- This design has the particular advantage that the position of the fin in relation to the sail board is changeable.
- the elongated hole designed so that even if the fin is in one of the extreme position defined by the hole ends, completely by the fin is covered. This allows an adjustable fin to be realized, which, in difference to the designs in the aforementioned prior art, the Flow conditions on the underside of the board are not affected.
- the The fin is preferably provided with a shoulder which engages in the elongated hole.
- the method according to the invention provides to create a plastic body which in the surfboard, d. H. is absorbed in the foam of the surfboard and the first one has open recess to the top of the board, in which the attachment, ie for example the screw head is picked up, a second one, to the underside of the board open recess and an opening that this first and this second recess connects with each other.
- this plastic body becomes after foaming the board into the board laminated.
- recesses are milled into the board and with accordingly designed molded body impregnated with synthetic resin or the like glass fiber mats inserted and shaped.
- the plastic body is made in advance, preferably by a Injection molding process.
- This embodiment of the method according to the invention is reduced in a significant way the effort to produce a surfboard.
- the Injection molded part is suitable in the mold for the production of the surfboard used and then foamed during the manufacturing process. This results in a firm connection between the foam and the molded part.
- the use of the prefabricated plastic body means that the fin attachment
- the force exerted on the surfboard is significantly reduced and essentially evenly absorbed by the foam.
- the surfboard then only consists of the corresponding one Foam body, which significantly reduces the manufacturing costs. It is in In this case, however, part of the outer surface of the surfboard, in particular the footprint for the user to be provided with a plastic cover in this area to increase strength or certain technical (high Friction) or optical (certain colors) properties.
- the fin used in accordance with the invention may also be a fiber reinforced laminate Plastic can be built.
- the fastening device is preferably realized by laminating a threaded brass part into the fin, which interacts with a screw which passes through the molded part with the Fin is screwed.
- the fin can also be manufactured as a plastic injection molded part.
- a suitable threaded bolt made of brass or the like is also used inserted into the mold and cast in before manufacture.
- FIG. 1a shows the top view of a surfboard 1, which is essentially symmetrical is arranged to an axis 2 extending in the longitudinal direction.
- the Elongated holes 3a and 3c with their longitudinal axes at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis 2 include, while the elongated hole 3b is arranged symmetrically to the longitudinal axis.
- Fig. 1b shows a section through the surfboard according to Fig. 1a, with 5 the Top of the surfboard is labeled, on which the user stands and with 6 the bottom, which faces the water.
- Fig. 1c shows a bottom view, the elongated holes 3a, 3b and 3c can also be seen here are.
- Fig. 2 shows a section through the surfboard along the longitudinal direction Axis of symmetry of the elongated hole 3b.
- the surfboard 1 consists of a plastic upper shell 10, a plastic lower shell 11 and one arranged in between Foam body 12.
- the plastic upper shell and lower shell are in the embodiment made of glass fiber reinforced synthetic resin, the foam body 12 is made of polyurethane.
- the fin box designed according to the invention is embedded in this foam body, which in this embodiment represents an externally injection molded component, as shown individually in Fig. 6.
- the fin box designated as a whole by 20, has a box upper part 21, which consists of 2 opposite side walls 23 which are formed by short transverse walls 24 are connected to one another and the one opening 26 is open at the top form.
- the box lower part 30 is formed, which from two substantially longitudinal longitudinal side walls 31 and consist of two short transverse walls 32 and 33 connecting these, which have an insertion opening 34 enclose.
- the fin lower box is covered by an intermediate plate 35 which at the same time also closes the fin box 21 downwards.
- an elongated hole 36 is arranged, which is essentially extends in the longitudinal direction and the width of which is wide enough to accommodate a threaded screw 38 record.
- This threaded screw is provided with a head 39, which to attack a tool, such as a screwdriver is suitable and its diameter is wider than the width of the elongated hole 36.
- the fin 40 has a substantially obliquely rearward in the assembled state extending front edge 41, which is curved towards the rear, and a rear curved edge 42.
- the front edge 41 and the edge 42 are, as in the case of flow Wings and the like usual, rounded in a suitable manner to to lower the flow resistance.
- the upper edge 43 of the fin has such a design that the fin is mounted Condition completely on the usually curved underside 6 of the surfboard is present.
- a suitably designed can be between the fin and the surfboard Intermediate sealing layer are provided.
- a material for this sealing liner a water-resistant elastic material, such as rubber or an elastic Plastic used.
- the sealing liner is preferably in a form cut, which corresponds to the surface of the fin facing the surfboard and which has corresponding cutouts for the lower opening of the fin box.
- a recess can also be provided in the upper surface of the fin, which receives a sealing ring made of elastic material such as rubber and the like.
- a pin 46 educated On the fin, in one piece with it, and parallel to the longitudinal edge 44 is a pin 46 educated.
- the pin 46 is cuboid and has mutually parallel Side surfaces 47, 48 and mutually parallel end faces 49.
- the thickness of the The pin transverse to the longitudinal direction of the board in the assembled state, d. H. the distance of outer surfaces 47 and 48 is less than the thickness of the fin, i.e. H. the distance of the Outer surfaces 44 of the fin.
- the side surfaces of the pin slightly inclined to each other, that is arranged conically, wherein the opening in the underside of the fin box is designed accordingly. With this design, the fin is clamped in the opening.
- a threaded bolt 53 is incorporated in the pin 46 of the fin 40.
- this threaded bolt consists of a brass sleeve, the corresponding one
- the fastening screw is made of stainless steel.
- the function of this embodiment is as follows:
- the fin 40 is inserted with the pin 46 into the lower box part 30.
- the dimensions of the lower box part, and in particular the distance between the longitudinal side walls 31 are designed so that the pin 46 can move just inside the box part forward or backward. Lateral movement of the pin in relation to the lower part of the box is excluded.
- the screw 38 is inserted from above into the box top and inserted through the slot 36 and screwed into the brass sleeve. Since the head of the screw is wider than the width of the elongated hole, the pin of the fin is moved in the direction of the intermediate plate.
- the height of the pin is preferably seen parallel to the longitudinal axis of the screw, slightly less than the height of the box base, also in the same Seen direction. This ensures that the upper surface of the pin 46 in System comes to the intermediate plate, but that the upper edge 45 of the fin with the force applied by the screw is pressed against the underside of the board.
- the insertion opening must 34 of the fin lower box 30 and the pin 40 of the fin accordingly be designed so that the required contact pressure for the seal when screwing the Finn is scored.
- the fin box as shown in Fig. 6, is used in this embodiment made separately, preferably as a plastic injection-molded part and into the surfboard Production foamed. This creates a very firm connection with the surfboard through which the ruling forces are safely absorbed can be. Because the design of the fin box according to the invention ensure this contributes that the loads on the foam as a whole over large areas as pressure loads are applied, the strength compared to known constructions significantly increased.
- the method for producing the surfboard is then designed in such a way that an openable mold is provided which has an upper and lower mold cavity has, which is designed according to the contour of the base body of the surfboard.
- the prefabricated fin box is inserted into the mold.
- a suitable foaming liquid is introduced into the mold, which foams and then completely fills the volume of the mold.
- the plastic top and bottom shells are made with the shape at the same time 10, 11 according to the embodiment shown in Figure 1.
- a is in the surfboard after the foaming process upper opening 50 and a lower opening 51 milled, as can be seen in FIG. 4a is.
