Definitions
- the invention relates to a double-ended electric lamp with a preferred Operating situation and a socket for such a lamp according to the preamble of Claims 1 or 5.
- a combination of a bilateral corresponding to the preamble of claim 1 socketed electric lamp and a socket for such a lamp for double-ended high-pressure discharge lamps in the photo-optics sector are used, and common for their versions. They have been around for a long time Time available in stores.
- These sockets are usually in a projection device or integrated a reflector lamp, and the aforementioned double-sided High-pressure discharge lamps have a lamp bulb with two pedestals Ends that extend diametrically along the longitudinal axis of the lamp envelope.
- the lamp bulb ends are essentially, especially in the base area rotationally symmetrical with respect to the longitudinal axis of the lamp bulb, while the lamp itself is not rotationally symmetrical and a well-defined one preferred operating position.
- the preamble of the claim 5 corresponding lamp is for example in the German patent application DE 29 17 745 or in the published patent application EP 0 477 668 A1.
- the rotational symmetry of the lamp with respect to the longitudinal axis of the lamp bulb is destroyed, for example, by a pump stem attachment that is centered on the lamp bulb wall is arranged.
- a pump stem attachment that is centered on the lamp bulb wall is arranged.
- the user When installing the lamp in a projector or a reflector lamp, the user must make sure that the pump stem attachment does not affect the optical imaging. To do this, it must be in the version inserted lamp in a certain position, their preferred operating position, rotated be, so that the pump stem approach to one for optical imaging is not used location.
- a serious disadvantage of the previously common two-sided socketed electric lamps with preferred operating position and their associated Versions are that they are not equipped with a positioning aid are guaranteed that the lamp only in the preferred operating position can be installed.
- the rotationally symmetrical structure in the base area of the Lamp bulb ends, in particular the base sleeves on the lamp bulb ends, as well as the matching versions allow almost any Installation position of the lamp, so that the user with the aforementioned lamps and Versions only with the help of an instruction manual about the professional installation inform and pay attention to the correct position of the pump stem attachment. If the user does not exercise sufficient care, this will result in cheap Case only for poor optical imaging and in the worst case even destroying the lamp.
- the published patent application DE 29 17 745 describes one with an orientation aid provided gas discharge lamp.
- the orientation guide ensures that the lamp can only be used in an orientated version.
- the lamp bulb ends have a lamp and a holder for such a lamp a stop surface arranged perpendicular to the lamp's longitudinal axis, with steps are provided, the rotational symmetry of the lamp bulb ends in the base area cancel, while the socket contacts belonging to the socket, the clamping lie against the stop surfaces, with web-shaped ones that are matched to the steps Projections are equipped.
- the steps in the stop surface and the web-shaped Projections on the socket contacts form a positioning aid for the lamp. They ensure that the lamp is only inserted in the correct position in the socket can be.
- the steps are advantageously milled to a shallow depth in the stop surface or in the base of the base sleeve. These cutouts are easy to install and do not change the diameter of the lamp bulb ends in the mounting area of the lamp the length of the lamp, the means the distance between the stop surfaces, so that the lamp with the invention Socket can also be installed in devices that are still compatible with conventional ones Lamp holders without positioning aid are equipped.
- the positioning aids are such on the stop surfaces and on the socket contacts attached that the lamp bulb ends and the socket contacts with respect of the lamp center are arranged point-symmetrically, that is, with a 180 ° rotation of the lamp and the socket around a suitable axis of rotation, which is arranged perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and the middle between the socket contacts or runs centrally between the lamp bulb ends, the first with the second capped lamp bulb end and the first with the second pressure spring to be brought to cover.
- This arrangement of the positioning aids Advantage that the two capped lamp bulb ends when installing the lamp in the version is equivalent, that is, interchangeable. Finally, must for lamps that are supplied with alternating current, not pay attention to the polarity of the electrical connections.
- This arrangement of the positioning aids is advantageous in the case of alternating current operated lamps, the lamp bulb ends directly, without use of connecting cables between the lamp and the socket, as electrical connections are formed. On the other hand, it prevents Above arrangement of positioning aids, for example, that the Lamp with the top facing down is inserted into the socket.
- the stop surface and the positioning aids on it are advantageously part of the applied to the lamp bulb ends metallic base sleeves.
- the socket sleeves and the socket contacts serve not only to hold the lamp, but also to electrical connection of the double-ended electric lamp.
- FIG. 1 shows a high-pressure discharge lamp 1 with a base on both sides with a socket according to a preferred embodiment of the invention pictured.
- the lamp is in particular a AC powered metal halide high pressure discharge lamp with an electrical power consumption of approx. 575 W.

- the lamp 1 has a lamp bulb 3 made of quartz glass with two diametrically arranged on both sides of the discharge space 3c, sealed gas-tight Ends 3a, 3b, which extend along the longitudinal axis A-A of the lamp 1 extend.
- the lamp bulb 3 is identical to the discharge vessel here the lamp 1.
- the lamp bulb ends or discharge vessel ends 3a, 3b are piston shafts with gas-tight molybdenum sealing foils executed.
- the molybdenum sealing foils are used for power supply the lamp electrodes protruding into the discharge space 3c, between which there is a gas discharge during lamp operation trains.
- the piston shafts 3a, 3b each carry at their free ends a metallic base sleeve 4a, 4b, which with the or the molybdenum sealing films of the corresponding piston skirt electrically connected is.
- the lamp bulb 3 is rotationally symmetrical in the area of the bulb shafts 3a, 3b with respect to the lamp longitudinal axis A-A.
- Discharge space 3c becomes the rotational symmetry of the lamp bulb 3 through a pump stem attachment 5, which is from a melted pump stem stems from, destroyed.
- the high-pressure discharge lamp 1 becomes horizontal Location, that is operated with a horizontally running discharge path. During lamp operation, the lamp bulb 3 must be such be aligned so that the pump stem attachment 5 points upwards.
