Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for the automatic processing of sheet material, e.g. Banknotes, according to the preamble of the main claim.
- the banknotes are generally separated in a stack and guided past a sensor device by means of a transport path.
- the individual banknotes are checked by sensors of the sensor device and fed to specific destinations or stacker units depending on the test result.
- a plurality of sensors can be provided for checking the banknotes, which evaluate the banknotes according to different criteria.
- the object of the invention is therefore to propose a method for the automatic processing or stacking of sheet material, such as banknotes, which works reliably even at high transport speeds.
- the banknotes are separated, transferred to a transport system, checked and, depending on the check, stacked according to predetermined categories in so-called stackers in units of a predetermined number of pieces.
- a stacker is provided in the banknote sorting device for each category.
- the basic idea of the invention is that the transfer of banknotes to the transport system is interrupted after it is determined in the sensor device that the predetermined number of pieces of a category has been reached.
- the banknotes of the same category that have already been separated at this time are temporarily stored in the sorting system until the stacker has processed the stored predetermined number of pieces.
- the time for the interruption of the separation is to be dimensioned such that the first banknote that is separated after the interruption of the separation does not reach the stacker until it is ready for operation again.
- the banknotes are temporarily stored in the stacker itself.
- the stacker is designed as a spiral stacker, as described for example in DE-OS 32 32 348.
- the stacker consists, among other things, of a stacking wheel with spirally arranged compartments and a stripper.
- the necessary temporary storage of banknotes is carried out within the stacking wheel. For example, if the banknotes are to be stacked in units of 100 notes, it is necessary to separate them the 100th and the following note already in the stacker. This separation is solved by a special scraper that can be continuously withdrawn from the spiral stacker.
- the necessary intermediate storage of banknotes can also be carried out by means of a buffer section integrated into the transport section.
- the banknotes are fed into the buffer line using a conventional switch and returned to the main transport system as soon as the stacker is ready for operation again.
- FIG. 1 shows a schematic diagram of a device according to the invention. It consists of a separator 10, into which at least one stack of banknotes 110 is introduced, which consists of a number of individual banknotes, such as banknotes 102 and 103.
- the banknotes 100 and 101 shown have already been removed from the banknote stack 110 and individually transferred to a transport route 30. With the aid of the separator 10, a continuous flow of individual banknotes is created.
- the subsequent sensor device 20 is composed of one or more sensors which check certain features of the banknotes. Depending on the test result, the banknotes are transported either via the transport route 30 to a stacker 50 or via the transport route 31 to other processing units (not shown here).
- a buffer 40 is located in the transport path 30, which is able to temporarily store a number of banknotes, depending on the dimensioning of the buffer 40, for a predetermined time.
- the flow of banknotes is coordinated by a controller 60. It is able to receive information from the other components of the device and to issue certain information or control commands to it.
- Banknote 100 is to serve as an example of processing here. It is first separated by the separator 10 and transferred to the transport system 30.
- the transport system 30 transports the banknote 100 into the sensor device 20, where the banknote 100 is checked for certain features.
- the sensor device 20 transmits the test result via the data line 72 to the controller 60.
- This activates certain control devices in the transport system via the data line 73, such as e.g. Turnouts so that the banknote 100 is fed to the associated further processing unit in accordance with the test result.
- This can be e.g. the stacker 50, in which e.g. the banknotes of a certain denomination identified as genuine are stored.
- the controller 60 monitors the number of banknotes that are transferred to the individual further processing devices. First, banknote 100 is checked by sensor device 20, for example, and the check result is transmitted to controller 60 via data line 72. If the controller 60 determines that the bank note 100 is intended for the stacker 50 and that the predetermined number of a category of bank notes in the stacker 50 has been reached, this stops the separator 10 via the data line 71.
- the bank note 100 thus provides here represents the last banknote of the stacking unit 120 of the stacker 50 and is conveyed into the stacker 50 via the data line 73 on the basis of corresponding control commands from the controller 60.
- banknote 101 The banknotes which are already in the transport route 30 at the time of the singling stop (here banknote 101) or which are currently being singled out at this time (here banknote 102) are transported to the sensor device 20, checked there and fed to the corresponding further processing units. If some or all of these checked banknotes are intended for the stacker 50, they are first stored in the intermediate memory 40, which is activated by the controller 60 at a corresponding time.
- the separator 10 is reactivated by the controller 60 via the data line 71 and the separating process is continued with the banknote 103 of the stack of banknotes.
- the controller 60 can also receive information from the stacker 50 via the data line 75, which indicates its operational readiness. On the basis of this information, the controller 60 then reactivates the separation process.
- the stacker 50 can send its readiness information before the time of its actual readiness, so that the next possible banknote reaches the stacker 50 at the time of its actual readiness.
- the buffer memory 40 receives a control command for emptying the banknotes stored in it into the stacker 50 via the data line 74 at the same time as the activation of the separation process.
- FIG. 2 each show a special embodiment of the stacker 50 and the intermediate store 40.
- the special feature of the first embodiment is that both the stacking of the banknotes and the intermediate storage are carried out in the stacker 50 during the separation gap.
- the stacker shown in a highly schematic form in FIG. 2 consists of a stacking wheel 51 with spirally arranged compartments, a stripper 52 and a stacking compartment 53.
- a special feature here is the movable design of the stripper 52 so that it moves out of the stacking wheel 51 or can be driven into the stacking wheel 51.
- the intermediate storage 40 is realized by means of the stacking wheel 51 and the stripper 52 of the stacker 50. The interaction of the individual components is described in more detail below with reference to FIG. 2.
- FIG. 2C shows the stripper 52 in its extended position.
- the bank notes 101 and 102 remain in the storage wheel 51 for temporary storage for one or more revolutions. Because of the singling stop, no further bank notes reach the stacker 50.
- the stacked unit 120 of banknotes can now e.g. be emptied from the stacking compartment 53 by means of a suitably shaped gripper, which is not shown here, however.
- the stacking compartment 53 including the stacked unit 120 of banknotes, can also be replaced by another empty stacking compartment, not shown.
- a further processing process e.g. Banding the stacking unit to be carried out in the stacker, the banded unit then being emptied from the stacking compartment 53.
- the separator 10 is reactivated by the control 60 at a suitable point in time, so that the next banknote 103 reaches the stacking wheel 51 in such a way that it is introduced into the compartment that follows the compartment of the banknote 102 as far as possible.
- 2D shows how the stripper 52 is moved back into the working position in the stacking wheel 51 without influencing the banknotes in the stacking wheel 51.
- the temporarily stored banknotes 101 and 102 are then stripped by the stripper 52 into the emptied stacking compartment 53 and the subsequent banknote 103 reaches the stacker 50.
- the stacker 50 is now back in normal stacking mode.
- the extension or extension of the scraper 52 can be implemented, for example, by a stepper motor or a linear drive.
- 3 shows a further possibility, which consists in the use of a contour disk 54. This is fixed on one axis with the stacking wheel 51. In the contour disk 54 there are guide grooves 55, the shape of which is adapted to the course of the compartments of the stacking wheel 51.
- a bolt 56 is inserted through a corresponding guide groove 55 into an opening provided on the top of the stripper 52. This can e.g. by means of a lifting magnet, not shown here.
- the bolt 56 is now guided along the guide groove 55.
- the free parameters of the stacker such as the number of stacking compartments and the control of the individual components, are optimized so that the separation gap can be kept as small as possible.
- the stacking wheel 51 can be accelerated for a short time after receiving the banknote 102 for at least part of the rotation of the stacking wheel 51, so that the banknotes can be removed more quickly and the waiting time for one rotation of the stacking wheel 51 can be reduced.
- the stripper 52 can thus be moved earlier into the stacking wheel 51 and the stacker 50 is thus already ready to accept the subsequent banknote 103 earlier.
- the number of bank notes that have to be stored temporarily depends on the length of the transport path 30 between the separator 10 and the sensor device 20.
- the exact times of the stop or the activation of the separator essentially result from the dimensions of the transport route 30 and the transport speed of the banknotes.
- the buffer store 40 is not integrated in the stacker 50, but is introduced into the transport route 30 as a separate buffer route 80.
- FIG. 4 shows a schematic diagram of such a buffer section 80. It consists, among other things, of a switch 81, with the aid of which the banknotes are led out of the transport section 30 for intermediate storage. These then arrive via a transport route 82 into a self-contained transport route 83, in which they are temporarily stored. Essentially, the number of banknotes in the buffer is determined by the extent of the transport path 83 and the duration of the buffering by the number of revolutions of the banknotes in the transport path 83.
- the buffer unit 80 receives the command from the controller 60 to empty the banknotes, they become , beginning with the banknote 101, diverted from the transport route 83 by means of a switch 84 into a transport route 85, in order to get back from there into the transport route 30 and then further into the stacker 50.
- This embodiment has the advantage that it is not dependent on certain properties of the stacker 50, as a result of which special components of the stacker 50 are dispensed with and the latter can be designed as desired.

Abstract
