Definitions

  • the invention relates to an outer handle arrangement for a door, in particular a motor vehicle door, with a bearing bracket fastened on the inside to the outer door panel, a door handle arranged essentially outside of the outer door panel and preferably in or above a recessed grip, which at one end of the bearing with a bearing arm through a bearing opening in Door outer panel engages and is pivotally mounted on the bearing bracket and is connected at the other actuating end to a pulling element which projects through an actuating opening in the door outer panel and a guide opening in the bearing bracket, is pretensioned into a retracted position and acts on a lock release lever when the door handle is swung out, and a locking cylinder adjacent to the pulling element, which is accessible through an outer door panel opening and secured in position by means of a holder.
  • Such an outer handle arrangement for a motor vehicle door is known (DE-C-32 03 885).
  • a bearing bracket made of an aluminum alloy is provided, which has a bearing journal on which the forked bearing arm of the plastic door handle is postponed.
  • the pull element is integrally formed on the actuating end of the door handle, has an approximately rectangular cross section and extends approximately in a circular arc around the vertical bearing axis of the horizontally arranged door handle.
  • the tension element is inserted into the guide opening of the bearing bracket which is open at the end and which has an upper and a lower and a laterally inner guide surface in adaptation to the tension element.
  • This mounting method requires enlarged openings (bearing opening and actuation opening) in the outer door panel in the horizontal direction compared to the cross sections of the bearing arm and the tension element.
  • the locking cylinder has a housing with a rectangular outer surface adapted to the actuating opening, which connects to the actuating end of the door handle or its pulling element.
  • the locking cylinder housing engages behind a shoulder on the bearing bracket, so that the locking cylinder unit comprising the housing is secured against axial pulling out.
  • the lock cylinder housing is fixed by a substantially horizontal screw, which is screwed against the housing from the front of the door and holds it tightly against the tension element by clamping a seal, so that this adjusts the three guide surfaces on the bracket fourth guide surface through the Lock cylinder housing receives.
  • This known training has a number of disadvantages. This includes in particular the risk that moisture (including dirt) penetrates in the area of the tension element, which too Corrosion and possibly also a functional impairment due to icing, which is why in the known handle arrangement a resistance heater controlled by the handle actuation is provided for the locking cylinder.
  • the insufficient sealing results from the fact that the pulling element follows the circular pivoting movement of the door handle with a corresponding radius and has laterally projecting parts which cooperate with the lock release lever or with the pretensioning device. Accordingly, a large actuation opening in the outer door panel is required, which cannot be completely closed by the seal provided, since otherwise a jamming of the door handle or the molded pulling element cannot be ruled out.
  • the pulling element requires movement on all sides, so that it cannot be sealed separately. Moisture that runs past the seal between the door handle and the outer door panel can therefore penetrate the door unhindered.
  • Another disadvantage of the known design relates to the assembly of the handle assembly.
  • the assembly must be carried out early and overall, since the door handle is not fixed without installing the locking cylinder and because a lock operation without an attached door handle is not possible or only very difficult with an auxiliary tool.
  • Subsequent installation of the door handle and lock cylinder on the assembly line and with the door closed is not possible because a fixing screw must be installed and tightened from the front of the door.
  • This also has an adverse effect later in the event of a repair or replacement. For example, the replacement of only the door handle requires the entire handle arrangement to be removed.
  • the lock cylinder housing which is visible from the outside, has a rectangular shape and comparatively large dimensions, and its necessary arrangement immediately following the door handle can be regarded as disruptive and restrictive in terms of design.
  • the invention is accordingly based on the object of improving the functional reliability and the ease of installation of the outer handle arrangement.
  • the pull element is a pull rod separated from the door handle, which is guided in a straight line and on all sides in a guide opening in the bearing bracket which is completely adapted to the pull rod cross-section and is connected to the door handle via a coupling device which connects the pull rod with relative transverse movements with respect to the door handle enables.
  • the pull rod separated from the door handle and its straight-line displacement when actuated or reset there is the possibility of guiding the pull rod tightly in the bracket without the risk of jamming and additionally of providing a sealing ring between these parts, which reliably prevents the ingress of moisture and dirt.
  • the tolerance compensation can be provided on the coupling device between the door handle and the pull rod.
  • the separation of the pull rod and door handle offers the possibility of pre-assembling the pull rod with the bearing bracket, which already enables a comparatively simple lock actuation, and if the corresponding design is used, the door handle can be retrofitted from the outside by plugging or snapping into place. This not only simplifies the assembly process but also subsequent repair or replacement.
  • the lock cylinder can be arranged and installed independently of the door handle and with its own small door outer panel opening, not only without a lock cylinder housing exposed to the outside but also without such a housing as a whole and the lock cylinder can be accommodated directly in a cylinder opening of the bearing bracket. This results in comparatively small openings in the outer door panel with correspondingly small seals. Possibly.
  • the outer door panel can also cover the lock cylinder head and only have one hole if the lock cylinder is already mounted in front of or with the bracket and an overall removal of the handle arrangement is accepted for later replacement of the lock cylinder.
  • the outer handle arrangement for a motor vehicle door has a bearing bracket 1, a door handle 2, a pull rod 3 and a locking cylinder 4.
  • the bearing bracket 1 which is made of plastic for weight and cost reasons, is attached to the inside of the door outer panel 5 by means of screws 6, 7, for which purpose threaded inserts (not shown) are formed in the bearing bracket 1.
  • the ribbed middle part 8 of the bearing bracket 1 is shaped correspondingly to the recessed grip 9 formed by the door outer panel 5.
  • the middle part 8 connects a bearing section 10, which has a bearing pin 11, with a bearing bracket block 12, which is arranged near the essentially vertically extending front face 13 of the door.
  • three openings are provided in a horizontal row, namely a bearing opening 14, an actuating opening 15 and a closing opening 16.
  • the three openings are sealed by seals 17 or 18 or 19, the seal 17 not only sealing the bearing opening 14 but also covers the screw 6 penetrating the outer door panel 5.
  • the door handle 2 has a bearing end 20 with an integrally formed bearing arm 21 which ends in a bearing fork 22 which receives the bearing journal 11 of the bearing bracket 1.
  • the design is such that the bearing fork 22 with the bearing arm 21 can be inserted from the outside through the bearing opening 14 and can be inserted into the bearing journal 11 of the bearing bracket 1 which has already been screwed or preassembled by pivoting the door handle 2.
  • the door handle 2 can be pivoted out of the starting position shown while lifting its actuating end 23 opposite the bearing end 20.
  • the bracket block 12 has a guide opening 24 which a portion of the tie rod 3, which is horizontal and in extends essentially at right angles to the outside of the door, with close guide play.
  • An annular groove 25 is provided on the bearing bracket block 12 in the region of the guide opening 24, which receives an O-ring 26, which cooperates with the pull rod 3 in a sealing manner.
  • the outer end of the pull rod 3 is connected to the actuating end 23 of the door handle 2 by a coupling device 27.
  • This coupling device 27 enables a latching connection between the pull rod 3 and the door handle 2.
  • the pull rod 3 has on each side a locking pin 28 which is under the pretension of a compression spring.
  • the outer tie rod end is received between two parallel door handle legs 29, each of which has on their mutually facing inner sides a groove 30 running transversely to the tie rod 3, into which the relevant locking pin 28 is locked.
  • This design of the coupling device 27 offers the possibility of coupling and connecting the door handle 2 after it has been stored on the bearing pin 11 by pressing in the door handle leg 29 through the actuating opening 15 with the pull rod 3 pre-assembled in the bracket 1, as a result of which the door handle 2 is fully assembled.
  • the grooves 30 create a relative mobility between the door handle 2 and the pull rod 3 transversely to the direction of extension of the pull rod 3. This enables the straight guide of the pull rod 3 in the guide opening 24 of the bracket 1 and tolerance compensation is achieved.
  • a spring chamber 31 adjoins the guide opening 24 in the bearing bracket block 12, which receives a compression spring 32, which acts on a pull rod extension 33 and thus constantly biases the pull rod 3 into its shown retracted position.
  • the drawbar 3 has in the area of the drawbar extension 33 on diametrically opposite sides in each case a radially projecting pin 34 which is received by the longitudinal cut 35 of a fork leg 36 of a compensating lever 37.
  • the Compensation lever 37 is mounted on a pin 38 arranged on the bearing bracket block 12 and has a compensation mass 39 at its end opposite the two fork legs 36.
  • a damping element 40 is effective between the bracket block 12 and the balancing mass 39 when the tie rod 3 is moved into the position shown due to the action of the compression spring 32.
  • the balancing mass 39 pivots in the opposite direction to the bearing end 20 of the door handle 2.
  • the compression spring 32 can be equipped with a spring force which ensures smooth operation of the door handle 2.
  • a lock release lever 41 is also indicated, which is actuated by pulling out the pull rod 3 so that the lock releases the door.
  • the bracket block 12 has a cylinder opening 42 which receives the locking cylinder 4 without a separate locking cylinder housing being provided.
  • a bushing 43 is provided, which is inserted into the cylinder opening 42 and encloses the locking cylinder 4, this bushing 43 made of die-cast zinc can be omitted if the bearing bracket 1 or the bearing bracket block 12 is not made of plastic but from a metallic material.
  • the socket 43 contains the locking channels for the tumblers of the locking cylinder 4. If these were formed directly in the bearing bracket block 12 made of plastic, there would be the risk that the wrong key could be opened due to the effects of heat or increased wear.
  • the cylinder opening 42 merges into a narrower opening section 44, which opens into a cylindrical chamber 45 at the inner end of the bracket block 12.
  • This chamber 45 receives a holding plate arrangement 46 which has an alignment plate 47 and a holding plate 48 which are connected to one another by a torsion spring 49.
  • the holding plate 48 is clipped on, caulked or otherwise fastened as a cover in order to hold the alignment plate 47 and the torsion spring 49 in the cylindrical chamber 45.
  • a hold-down device 51 connected to the bearing bracket block 12 enables the pre-assembly of the holding plate arrangement 46 in the chamber 45, so that the locking cylinder 4 can subsequently be assembled from the outside of the door.
  • the locking cylinder 4 is pressed through the locking opening 16 in the outer door panel 5, the inner end of the locking cylinder 4 positively engaging in the alignment plate 47, as a result of which the locking cylinder 4 or its key slot is three-way aligned in the central position.
  • the locking cylinder 4 is axially fixed with the aid of a retaining ring 52 mounted on the bearing bracket block 12, which can optionally be a laterally inserted retaining plate.
  • the actuating rod 53 provided on the inside of the locking cylinder 4 projects through a central opening in the holding plate 48.
  • the bracket 1 or its bracket block 12 also offers the possibility for the assembly, not shown, with a freewheel cylinder, lighting or electronic control for the remote lock cylinder actuation. This requires no additional opening in the outer door panel 5 and no enlargement of the proposed closing opening 16.
  • FIG. 2 has many similarities to the arrangement according to FIG. 1.
  • the individual matching or at least functionally identical parts are not described again. These are provided with the same reference numerals as used in FIG. 1, but with a differentiation.
  • the embodiment according to FIG. 2 also has a bearing bracket 1 ', a door handle 2', a pull rod 3 ', a locking cylinder 4' and an outer door panel 5 '.
