Definitions
- the invention relates to a toe for a safety binding with a housing, in which a presettable release spring is arranged, which acts on a common, essentially vertically arranged bolt guided in the housing on two sole holders, each of which has one arm on this bolt Lever are pivotally mounted, wherein the sole holder and the bolt are further pivotally mounted on the housing and each sole holder is supported on its front on a substantially vertical and - viewed from above - curved guide surface on the housing and pivotable about a virtual instantaneous axis of rotation is which is determined by the intersection of a normal formed in the support point of the sole holder on this guide surface with a normal leading through the center of the bolt on the longitudinal center plane of the toe and which is when a sole holder is pivoted sideways moved along a polar curve.
- a toe of the type mentioned above is described for example in AT PS 376 576.
- two sole holders are mounted on a common bolt, which acts on a release spring via a pull rod which is longitudinally displaceable in the housing.
- a support surface is also provided on the housing for each sole holder symmetrically to the longitudinal center plane of the toe, which appears in plan view as an obliquely extending straight line and on which a curved counter surface of the sole holder rolls during its lateral pivoting movement.
- the kinematics of this mechanism is chosen so that the support point of the counter surface lies on a normal to the longitudinal center plane leading through the center of the bolt, so that no lateral load occurs on the drawbar.
- the virtual instantaneous axis of rotation of the sole holder thus lies in the support point of the counter surface on the support surface of the housing and moves when the sole holder is pivoted along a polar curve which in this case leads along the support surface and is therefore a straight line.
- the current virtual axis of rotation of such a sole holder lies in the intersection of a normal formed in the support point on the guide surface with a normal leading through the center of the bolt on the longitudinal center plane and moves along a predetermined polar curve when the sole holder is pivoted sideways.
- a particularly well-defined release characteristic for the toe piece can be specified, which is moreover only insignificantly influenced by dirt, ice or snow.
- a backward release mechanism can also be provided in such a front jaw, in which both sole holders together with the bolt on which they are mounted are pivoted upward against the spring force of the release spring.
- the release force is essentially dependent on the distance of the instantaneous virtual axis of rotation from the center of the pin at the time when the ski boot is released laterally.
- the resulting release force is made up of two components, on the one hand the force required to swing the sole holder up, and on the other hand the lateral release force. Therefore, there is the problem that the resulting release force, which is required for a final lateral release of the ski boot, has an undesirably high value in the case of such release in comparison with a pure side release.
- each sole holder has at least one support surface which is assigned to at least one counter surface fixed to the housing, on which this at least one support surface can be supported when the sole holder is swung up, the virtual instantaneous Axis of rotation through the intersection of a normal formed in the support point on this support surface with the normal through the center of the pin on the longitudinal median plane of the toe piece is fixed and this axis of rotation lies between the polar curve and the median longitudinal plane, preferably in the immediate vicinity of the polar curve.
- the measure according to the invention enables the virtual instantaneous axis of rotation of the sole holder to be moved away from the polar curve in the direction of the longitudinal central plane while simultaneously pivoting this sole holder sideways and upward, so as to shorten the lever arm acting on the release spring and thus the To reduce the triggering force in such a triggering process as desired.
- the support surface and the counter surface — viewed from above — have the same sense of curvature as the guide surface for the sole holder.
- each sole holder has a bearing head on its upper side to limit its pivoting movement, which can be supported on a recess of the housing formed upward in the area behind the guide surface, in an advantageous embodiment the front end face of the bearing head is used as a supporting surface and the front end face of the Recess formed as a counter surface.
- each sole holder is designed on its front boundary surface in the region of the longitudinal center plane as a support surface and the rear upper housing boundary in this region as a counter surface.
- FIG. 1 shows a plan view of a toe with a housing 1, on which two sole holders 2a, 2b are mounted, which are acted upon by a release spring (not shown) via a common bolt 3 guided in the housing.
- Each sole holder 2a, 2b consists of a front bearing section 4a, 4b and a rear hold-down section 5a, 5b, wherein the bearing section 4a, 4b of each sole holder essentially serves to mount the sole holder on the housing 1 and the hold-down section 5 serves to hold a ski boot.
- each sole holder 2a, 2b Provided on the front side on the bearing section 4a, 4b of each sole holder 2a, 2b is a roller 6a, 6b, which is mounted vertically on the sole holder and is supported on a guide surface 7a, 7b of the housing 1 which is curved in plan view.
- this guide surface 7a, 7b consists of two curved sections which, as seen from above, are connected to one another in a web tip pointing in the direction of the ski boot.
- the exact shape of the guide surface is not part of the invention and is described in detail in parallel patent applications (A 2532/92, A 951/93). At this point it should also be noted that the present invention can be implemented together with any guide surface.
- a bearing head 8a, 8b is provided on each bearing section 4a, 4b of a sole holder 2a, 2b, which is an upwardly formed projection of this bearing section.
- this bearing head has approximately the shape of an elongated pentagon, which is oriented essentially in the longitudinal direction of the front jaw when the sole holders are not pivoted, a tip of this pentagon pointing in the direction of the longitudinal central plane ⁇ .
- Each of these bearing heads 8a, 8b is mounted in a recess 9a, 9b, which is formed in the area behind the guide surface 7 in the housing 1. The shape of this recess is chosen so that a limited lateral pivotability of the sole holder is possible.
- a support surface 10a, 10b is arranged on the front side of each bearing head, which is supported on a respective counter surface 11a, 11b arranged on the front side of the recess 9a, 9b when the sole holder 2a, 2b is pivoted up.
- a support surface 12a, 12b is provided on each hold-down section 5a, 5b of each sole holder 2a, 2b in the region of the longitudinal center plane ⁇ , which is supported on the rear upper housing boundary when the sole holder 2a, 2b is pivoted upwards
- Area of the longitudinal center plane ⁇ is formed as a counter surface 13
- FIG. 2 shows the kinematics of a toe piece according to the invention when the sole holder 2a is pivoted sideways.
- the sole holder rotates about a virtual instantaneous axis of rotation D, the position of which can be changed both with respect to the housing 1 and the sole holder 2a itself and describes a polar curve P in the course of this pivoting movement.
- This virtual momentary axis of rotation D of the sole holder 2a lies at the intersection of a normal NA formed in the current support point A of the roller 6a on the guide surface 7 with a normal NZ leading through the center Z of the bolt 3 to the longitudinal center plane ⁇ of the Toe piece.
- the triggering force of the front jaw now essentially depends on the instantaneous distance between the virtual axis of rotation D or the polar curve P from the longitudinal center plane ⁇ , since the lever arm acting on the trigger spring is determined by this distance.
- Such kinematics make it possible to meet two conditions necessary for an optimal lateral triggering characteristic.
- the triggering force can be optimally controlled or determined depending on the pivoting angle of the sole holder, and secondly, the front jaw can be dimensioned so that when the sole holder is pivoted there is no thrust in the direction of the heel jaws and thus the ski boot does not move in the longitudinal direction when the sides are released.
- this front jaw also enables a backward release by pivoting up the sole holder 2a, 2b, which can be combined with a side release, in particular in the event of a backward lintel, as shown in FIGS. 3a, 3b.
- a lateral and upward force is exerted on the sole holders 2a, 2b of a toe piece according to the invention, these are pivoted upwards, starting from the position shown in FIG. 1, the support surfaces 10a, 10b; 12a, 12b on their assigned counter surfaces 11a, 11b; 13 trim.
- the rollers 6a, 6b lose contact with the respective guide surface 7a, 7b.
- the virtual instantaneous axis of rotation D now changes its position and assumes a new position D ', which through the intersection of a normal NA' formed in the support point of the support surface 12a, 12b on the counter surface 13 with the normal leading through the center Z of the bolt 3 NZ is set to the longitudinal median plane ⁇ .
- the support surface 12a, 12b or also 10a, 10b and the associated counter surface 13 or 11a, 11b are now designed so that the virtual instantaneous axis of rotation D moves somewhat inwards and preferably a new position D 'between the polar curve and the longitudinal center plane in the immediate vicinity of the polar curve.
- the release force additionally required for such release by pivoting up the sole holder is compensated for by a controlled shortening of the release lever.
- the effect of a toe piece according to the invention is already provided by the presence of a single support surface and a single counter surface per sole holder. However, in the presence of two support surfaces per sole holder, as in the present exemplary embodiment, the force transmission from a sole holder to the housing divided into two places and is therefore more gentle on the material. Furthermore, it is irrelevant in the context of the present invention at which point of the brine holder the support surface or at which point of the housing the counter surface is arranged as long as these two surfaces are assigned to one another in such a way that the effect described above can be achieved.
