Definitions
- the invention relates to a roller shutter with a plurality of hinged, laterally guided roller shutter profiles, which have groove-shaped recesses on their back, engage in the teeth of gearwheels arranged on a guide tube as drive means, the guide tube enclosing a torsion spring, which on the one hand on the central, fixed and passing through the guide tube and on the other hand is attached to the guide tube itself, and wherein the guide tube is closed on both sides by the axis carrying end caps inserted into its lumen.
- Such a roller shutter is described in FR-A-2 421 259, which can be used, for example, for closing a garage or a truck body.
- the armor consists of individual armor elements which are articulated to one another. These armor elements are moved by a horizontal drive shaft on which a torsion spring is held. The drive shaft and torsion spring are surrounded by a tubular cylinder, on the outer circumference of which longitudinally displaceable gear wheels are arranged. These gearwheels engage in the cutouts formed in the individual armor elements and serve as a roller shutter drive when the door armor is rolled up or lowered.
- the door armor is driven by the drive shaft via the gearwheels, which at the same time guide the door armor during the various rolling movements.
- the lateral guidance takes place in guide rails in which the end areas of the individual armored elements are guided during the movement processes.
- the running movement of the known roller shutter is supported by the torsion spring arranged on the drive shaft, which serves as a classic weight balance.
- the system is set up so that the torsion spring is tensioned when the door armor is closed. If the door armor is unlocked for opening, the torsion spring tends to expand from the tensioned state into the rest position and thereby sets the tubular cylinder with the gearwheels in a rotational movement acting in the opening direction. The door armor is moved into the open position via the gears and their engagement in the cutouts of the individual armor elements, whereby the action of the torsion spring can be supported by the operating personnel until the door armor is completely opened by slightly pushing it forward.
- the known roller shutter with its drive mechanism can be used, but does not take sufficient account of the fact that the torsion spring can lose more and more of its original prestress with increasing use. This loss of tension, which arises for technical or material reasons, can only be eliminated in the known roller shutter structure in that the system unit drive shaft, torsion spring and tubular cylinder is released from the bearing. The entire structure must then be removed from the roller shutter and only then can the torsion spring be re-tensioned after removing the end caps from the drive shaft. This is a very labor intensive and time consuming process.
- end caps with end portions inserted into the end of the lumen of the guide tube protrude from the lumen, that tooth-like projections evenly distributed on the circumference of these portions protrude beyond the outer periphery of the guide tube, that these projections extend over the axial length of the tooth profile
- Corresponding receiving grooves arranged on the inner circumference of the central bore of the gearwheels engage in such a way that the end caps are rotatably mounted on the axle and that the gearwheels are each detachably connected to the end caps by mechanical fasteners which penetrate through the guide tube.
- One free end of the torsion spring is advantageously detachably connected to the end cap socket inserted into the lumen of the guide tube by means of a mechanical fastening means, while the other free end of the torsion spring is articulated on the axle itself.
- a hexagonal extension for the engagement of a twisting tool to be formed on the portions of the end caps protruding from the lumen of the guide tube.
- the roller shutter according to the invention enables the torsional tension to be adjusted without much assembly or disassembly. Such adjustment may be necessary, for example, if the torsion spring preload has become fatigued due to repeated use or if the operating personnel desires a different setting of the tension ratios of the torsion spring. It is also possible to completely install the entire set of roller shutters at their place of use without pretensioning the torsion spring, for example as a closure for a furniture opening. The torsion spring tension can then be adjusted in the desired ratio on the spot before the first actual use action by loosening the mechanical fastening means between the gearwheel and the end cap and moving the gearwheel out of the groove guide over the guide tube.
- the outwardly projecting hexagonal extension of the end cap can now be turned using a twisting tool and the tension of the torsion spring can thus be adjusted.
- the gear wheel shifted onto the guide tube with its receiving grooves is inserted again into the tooth-like projections of the partial regions of the end caps protruding from the lumen of the guide tube and fixed on the end cap by means of the mechanical fastening means.
- This mechanical fastening means also passes through the associated end region of the guide tube, so that in the final state the gear, the end cap and the guide tube form a rotatable unit.
- the torsion spring Due to the fact that the one free end of the torsion spring with the end cap socket inserted into the lumen of the guide tube and the other free end of the torsion spring are directly attached to the axle, the torsion spring has been or can be tensioned by the described movement of the end cap with the twisting tool be as excited as is necessary for the intended use.
- the side wall 1 is shown in section, which can for example be the side wall of a piece of furniture.
- the roller shutter guide rail 11 is shown, in which the roller shutter 2 can slide during the displacement process.
- the side wall 1 shows on its front edge the roller shutter guide rail 12 into which the roller shutter 2 has run.
- the guide tube 3 carries at its free end facing the side wall 1 the gear 4, which is fixed by the mechanical fastening means 41 through the guide tube 3 on the end cap 5.
- the formation of the end cap 5 with its partial areas 51 protruding from the lumen of the guide tube is visible at the opposite free end of the guide tube 3.
- the partial areas 51 correspond with their outer circumference exactly to the circumference of the guide tube 3, so that here a practically seamless connection between the partial areas 51 and the guide tube 3 is created.
- the tooth-like projections 511 protrude over the circumference of the partial regions 51 and the guide tube 3, and their dimensions correspond to the receiving grooves 421 formed in the central bore 42 of the gear wheels 4.
- the assigned gear 4 is displaced in the direction of the arrow over the circumference of the guide tube to the other gear 4 by loosening the mechanical fastening means 41, so that the tooth-like projections 511 have been pulled out of the receiving grooves 421.
- the end cap 5 can be rotated within the guide tube via the hexagonal extension 52 and a twisting tool, not shown in the drawing. With this rotation, the torsion spring 7 shown in partial section in FIG. 2 is adjusted accordingly in its tension ratio.
- the axis 6 protrudes from the end cap 5, which is connected via its square end 61 to a corresponding holder on the associated side wall — not shown in the drawing — in a manner secured against rotation.
- FIG. 2 shows the partial section on the left according to FIG. 1.
- the side wall 1 shows a shaft receptacle 13, in the square opening of which the correspondingly formed square end 61 of the axis 6 engages.
- the end cap 5 is arranged on the axle and the gear wheel 4 is seated above this end cap 5.
- the tooth-like projection 511 of the end cap 5 is shown in engagement with the receiving groove 421 of the gear 4.
- the mechanical fastening means 41 is indicated, via which the gear wheel 4 is connected to the end cap 5 by the guide tube 3.
- the free end 71 of the torsion spring 7 is shown in use in the end cap stub 53 within the guide tube.
- the free end 71 of the torsion spring 7 is firmly connected to the end cap 5 and the guide tube 3 via a mechanical fastening means 72.
- the torsion spring 7 runs with its windings over the axis 6 to the point of the articulation 62.
- this point of the articulation 62 is a bore through the axis 6, through which the free end 73 of the torsion spring 7 is pulled.
- the free end 73 of the torsion spring 7 is then, for example, bent over the axis 6 and fixed in this way. If necessary, this setting can be supported by means known from the prior art, such as gluing, welding, screwing, etc.
