Definitions

  • the invention relates to a lock for vehicle seat belts, with a load-bearing housing and a trigger button slidably guided therein, which is biased by a spring force into a rest position and has an actuating surface.
  • the lock For use in seat belt systems that are equipped with a belt tensioner that engages the lock, the lock must be secured against unintentional opening at the end of the tensioning process.
  • the belt tensioner shifts the lock towards the vehicle floor until a stop is reached.
  • the stop When the stop is reached, the movement of the lock is suddenly braked.
  • the inertia due to the inertia, its functional parts endeavor to continue their movement. This also applies to the release button, the inertial movement of which would cause the lock to open.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a lock for vehicle seat belts, which is secured against unintentional opening and does not differ from conventional lock designs in terms of design principle, design and size.
  • a lock of the type mentioned at the outset in that the actuating surface of the release button is formed on a pushbutton which is integrated in the release button and is displaceably guided in this over a limited stroke distance in the direction of displacement of the release button and is preloaded by spring force into a rest position is that a two-armed blocking lever is pivotally mounted on the release button, the first lever arm of which rests on the pushbutton and the second lever arm is opposite a stop part of the load-bearing housing in the rest position of the pushbutton, and is pivoted out of the area of the stop part when the pushbutton is depressed with respect to the release button unobstructed past the stop part in the direction of displacement of the release button with this that the spring force, which biases the blocking lever in its rest position, is less than the spring force, which the Ausl setaste biased in its rest position, and that the center of gravity of the blocking lever lies on the outside of a plane passing through the pivot axis of the blocking lever, parallel to the
  • the actuation surface is pressed in the usual way, which, in contrast to the conventional lock design, is not formed on the release button, but rather on the push button integrated therein.
  • the push button By depressing the push button, the two-armed lever is first pivoted until its second lever arm is pivoted out of the area of the stop part of the lock housing. Only then is the trigger button moved by further depressing the pushbutton until it finally releases the latch in a conventional manner, which holds the tongue in the lock.
  • the two-armed lever simultaneously tries to perform a pivoting movement in such a way that its second lever arm is opposite the stop part of the Lock housing remains.
  • the further movement of the release button is prevented by the second lever arm striking the stop part of the lock housing.
  • the release button is made in two parts by leaving out the area of the actuating surface and a separate pushbutton being slidably mounted in the recessed area; furthermore, the two-armed lever is pivotally mounted on a pin inside the release button.
  • the changes therefore essentially only affect the release button, a component which is molded from plastic and can therefore easily be replaced by another.
  • a lock for vehicle seat belts consists of a load-bearing housing, functional parts mounted thereon and a plastic cover shell surrounding these elements, which gives the lock the shape shown in FIG. 1.
  • the actuating surface of a release button 12 is located on the end face of the cover shell 10.
  • a pushbutton 14 protrudes by 2 to 3 mm from this actuating surface of the release button 12.
  • the release button 12 has a recess 16, in which the Push button 14 is guided.
  • the push button 14 is generally cap-shaped, with two flanges 14a, 14b at its longitudinal ends, which come to rest on the inside of the release button 12.
  • a bracket 18 Part of the conventionally designed and therefore not described load-bearing housing of the lock is a bracket 18, the end face of which is opposite the push button 14.
  • a two-armed angled blocking lever 20 is pivotally mounted on a pin 22.
  • the first lever arm 20a engages in the cavity of the push button 14 and rests with its free end on the inside of the push button.
  • the second lever arm 20b lies opposite the end face of the bracket 18 forming a stop part and is loaded by a compression spring 24 supported on the release button 12 in such a way that the first lever arm 20a is held in contact with the inside of the pushbutton 14.
  • the center of gravity S of the blocking lever 20 lies in the second lever arm 20b on the outside of a plane running through the axis of the bearing pin 22 and parallel to the longitudinal direction of the lock.
  • the release button 12 is preloaded into the rest position shown in FIG. 2 by a normal return spring, not shown in the drawing.
  • the push button 14 is first depressed.
  • the two-armed blocking lever 20 is pivoted clockwise in FIG. 2, whereby its second lever arm 20b is moved next to the end face of the bracket 18. Only now can the release button 12 be depressed via the push button 14 in order to open the lock.
